Has anyone got any examples of employers/managers "having a go" at staff who stayed off during the worst of the weather last week? I'm thinking Monday and Thursday particularly.
Any work place definitions of what is OK eg "Hazardous and Treacherous roads" are OK to drive on, its only "Impassable" where you shouldn't attempt it? Statements about Police advice not to make a journey unless essential not really being meant?
I've been hearing of a few instances over the last couple of days.

Well, if you take any notice of BBC or ITV news progs, you'd never leave the house if it was even raining.
"Don't go out unless its really necessary" warning are always being broadcast.
I have no idea what they consider "Really necessary"
The AA and RAC advise taking a bar of chocholate, flask of Brandy, blankets etc etc, geez, I only have to drive a couple of miles.

Unless you trave through a wilderness, and I doubt if many in the UK do, I think its all a bit over the top.
Whatever happened to common sense, do we really need to be told what to do all the time.
A dusting of snow, and all the schools are closed, bloody hell, we considered it fun to walk to school after heavy snow, never mind an inch or so.

My brother left to live in Spain, he's sweating his balls off, not because of the weather, but because of the Pound against the Euro Serves him right, should have stayed here with Brown to look after his money. ;D

There is some hoo-ha in our organisation after a few high-up managers wanted staff who couldn't get in to take it as annual leave or TOIL.
I got in across two counties on public transport on Monday & Tuesday last week when loads were off due to the snow, and our office was closed on Thursday & Friday cos of the snow too. I'm no taking that as annual leave or TOIL.

No snow here, it's just poured all day!
I work 30 miles away from home and in spite of the snow still went in! The main roads are kept pretty clear, it's imperative to be careful though, there are so many idiots on the road!
