Now I can understand that. Disagree, of course. I'm too old and / or miserably beaten down to be idealist I think - you don't get long in the world, you might as well make the best of it. Which, translated to politics, means voting for the best option. In my opinion. I think "best" is very strong, given how shockingly badly they've reacted to the economic crisis. I think "least terrible" would be the best you could say about them. "Not quite as bad as Cameron's mob", say. And that's only if you believed it.

I disagree that they've reacted "shockingly badly" to the economic crisis, Andy. I'd give them a C+. Because no-one has had the "right" answers. Not even Vince (B), and certainly not the sodding Tories (E-).
What's the difference between "best" and "least worst", incidentally, apart from emphasis?

"you cant trust the MSM"
Haha.
Have to say, I've been deeply depressed by the way my part....ERRRRRR..... Labour have reacted to the rightwing blog disease. Didn't they realise feckin YEARS ago that this was setting a lot of the agenda, not least because a lot of the MSM take their lead from sources like Ian Tossface Bullied At School After Being Caught Cracking One Off Over Thatch Dale?

I don't think Iain Dale would be cracking one over Thatch, unless you mean Mark or Dennis. He's a token Tory gayer...

Emphasis. "Best" implies there's some good elements.
And they've been shockingly bad on the economics. If I can see things before they can, then they're being astonishingly sh*t. You know that - way, way too late - they're going to put forward a half-baked infrastructure investment program which, if they'd started it 6 months ago, would have started creating jobs already. Same way they were late with northern rock, late with RBS, the way they've failed to use government owned banks to force the market, etc, etc.
It's been genuinely utterly rubbish on their part.
Just because the Tories propose even less spending and even less regulation is no defence of the ineptitude and rubbishness presided over by Gord and Al.

Is he a gayer? Didn't know that.
Well that's confused my right on lefty liberal radar. Slag off Tory - stick up for gayer - does not compute..

"they've been shockingly bad on the economics"
Absolute nonsense. Economics of the reaction are -
Bank bailout - absolutely necessary. Well thought out, well executed, copied round the world. Only problem - too much timidity in taking full control (possibly because of competition laws)
Fiscal stimulus - absolutely necessary. Well thought out, well executed. VAT cut - excellent. Tax cuts - excellent. Bringing forward planned pyramid construction - excellent. Problem - too timid. Tax cuts not big enough. Not enough borrowing. Should also build new pyramids.
Northern Rock - yep, agree, too late (but they did it eventually, and no harm was caused)

Dear Lord, you're not still banging on about Nu Labour being the best option are you omni?
The best option is to tear it all up and start again.

Best REALISTIC option.
Not difficult, given that the realistic options are a) Labour. b) Tory.

Best REALISTIC option. Not difficult, given that the realistic options are a) Labour. b) Tory. That's like being asked if you'd like to be chained down and listen to a coldplay album on permanent repeat for 48 hours, or would you rather gouge your own eyeballs out with a drinking straw. Clearly the best of the two options is gouging your eye out with a straw, but neither has any appeal.

Voting Tory would be like someone is busy gouging your eyeballs out and asks "would you like me to start extracting your teeth with pliers now too, or not?" and you say "ooh yes please".

Voting Labour would be like someone gouging out your eyeballs and telling you to be fooking grateful they're not also removing your teeth with pliars.

Nah. Labour are OK actually. I'd would even go as far as calling them "best" rather than "least worst".
