I mean, the average MP earns £60,000. Anyone earning a vast sum like that should be paying much, much more tax than they do.

But corruption has a trickle down effect. If people see corruption at the top it goes right through society till it hits the bottom. Bankers, Estate Agent & Traffic Wardens.

I don't think people really take their lead from MPs, WKC.
And I don't think they are anywhere near the worst offenders.
And I think people often confuse high salaries, decent expenses etc with "corruption". I honestly can't understand why people get all worked up over the people running the country getting £60k plus expenses, but you try taxing an millionaire offshore exile a little bit more and it's all "we'll lose valuable talent!!" etc etc. It's all to cock.

I don't think for a minute it's corruption. I'm sure it is entirely legal. It's fooking immoral though and I'd call it taking the p1ss.

It is corruption. As you say it may not be exactly illegal. although a Tory MP got done for exactly what Jack E Smith is doing and had to resign his seat over it, but it's still feckin corrupt.

It's just out and out greed, the "I'm all right Jaque' mentality we've been putting up with for decades from the people who are being PAID BY US!!!
Time we sacked the lot of them and started thinking about forming our own government? By the people, for the people - heard something like that before too!

Richard Timney is Jacqui Smith's husband and was recently discovered to be bombarding their local paper with letters praising his wife and attacking the Conservatives.
That explains the Parliamentary Assistant job then.
Its very easy to be within the rules on expenses, given that MP write and approve them. Given that they are so vague, you would have to work hard to actually break them.

Know that ad on T.V. the one that's supposed to put the frighteners on benefit cheats? Why can't they make them more entertaining, by running a series that zeros in on a different well known politician each evening. ;D Just a thought.

That would be hard to do in a 30 second ad.
Given how bent some of the politicians are, a 3 hour in depth expose would just scratch the surface. (coughMandlesoncough)
