An open wallet, handing out money to the rest of the country.

A massive statue that automatically whinges when anyone passes it.

How about just a fooking big placard reading "This is as good as the UK gets. No, really, it is."

Nah, we'd get done under Trade Descriptions.

Perhaps a big signpost pointing North saying "This way to civilisation".

A large circle of standing stones and monoliths. I know it's already been done but I want to see if Brown's Britain still has the technological and financial brilliance to achieve something that a bunch of slappy druids could manage. Should be a winner because someone can claim that it's Welsh and not racist English.

It should be of a gay, a lesbian a black and a south Asian person all placing a giant rainbow flag into a model of parliament (or maybe Buckingham Palace) in tribute to the famous Iwo Jima photo.

A giant statue of Diana, Princess of Hearts. Or Gordon Brown.

Oh yes, a large rainbow. With no pot of gold at either end because Gordon sold it.

I like Andy's idea. Something so right-on that it will give heroic anti-PC warriors embolisms on a mass scale and get rid of them once and for all.
Then we can take it down and replace it with something sensible - Gordon Brown or Bouddicia or summat.

Oh, Christ. He's off on his anti-PC warrior guff again. I read his brilliant and insightful explanation of this latest delusion and was completely unimpressed. When's he going to get it that nobody is fooled by the silly label ploy anymore? What a cnut.

As it's Kent, how about a long line of commuters waiting for a South Eastern service that is delayed due to snow in the Grampian region.

Pfft, the South West has had an Iconic Giant White Horse for centuries now - Westbury White Horse, carved by ancient bods with stone axes or summat, still in place after a millenia at least and all it takes is a coat of whitewash every few years to keep it tidy. Cheap as chips and with a gen-yoo-ine historical pedigree too.

We already have the Sails of The South, this picture doesn't represent them very well. They are very striking and very apt as they are just on the coast as you enter Portsmouth.

I was reading that the white horse was a symbol of the county of Kent.
Personally, I'd have thought the money could have been better spent elsewhere.
