www.dailymail.co.uk/news/index.htmlA major manhunt for a suspected killer was called off today after he was found hanged in a derelict building. George Appleton, 40 - dubbed the 'Facebook Fugitive' - was wanted by police on suspicion of murdering his former girlfriend, Clare Wood, 36. The badly burnt body of Miss Wood, a mother-of-one, was found at her house last Friday. She and Appleton had been in a stormy on-off relationship since April 2008, but had finally split up last month. Police called off the manhunt for George Appleton (left), who they suspect killed former girlfriend Clare Wood, after finding his body inside a derelict building Following her death, detectives immediately launched a nationwide hunt for Appleton, who regularly used the internet to contact women through Facebook and other social and online dating networking websites. It later emerged that just seven days before her murder, Appleton was issued with a harassment order after he smashed Miss Wood's front door. And only last month, he was arrested after she called police claiming Appleton had sexually assaulted her. Detectives issued an urgent warning over fears Appleton was trying to lure other female victims through Facebook. They said several women were known to have been contacted by Appleton via dating and social networking sites. The warning was made after Miss Wood's body was found in the bedroom of her home in Salford, Greater Manchester, last Friday. One less for the British taxpayer to fund in prison!

Speaking a little bit from personal experience tarrant, i was told that no injunction could be put in place, no arrest under taken unless quote "blood was drawn". I was told the police's hands were tied and it was the legal system that prevented these monsters from being locked up immediately.
I am not saying this is the procedure for everyone, but it certainly was in my case.

I would have thought tha attacking her property would be enough cause.
Sexual assault as well.
But I suppose it's too much trouble for them.
