Wilders came and showed us our weaknesses. We now have a chance. A chance to change or be dominated by stronger foes, not all wars are fought with tanks.

I think what Wilders has shown us, and it is an important point, is that the UK is not run according to "What SS and Jonren want". I feel today is a sunnier, happier day all round.

Lord Ahmad denies saying he would put ten thousand muslims outside parliament. His lawyers are investigating. The lawyers will be investigating the possibility of obtaining libel damages from people foolish enough to have said publicly that Lord Ahmed would assemble an angry mob.

I think Wilders has shown us another perfect example of how our liberties are being erroded all the time and the revolution will be happening in the not too distant future. I usually agree with most of your points VHW. but this thread today? we are poles apart. Yesterday just wasnt a good day for Wilders, or the UK as a whole.

I think it is very unlikely he would have said anything like that, not least because thanks to his party's cnutish period in government you aren't allowed to march on Parliament unless you've got about 9 years worth of permission granted.
But to be honest, surely the right to peaceful protest is something of which Britain can be proud. If 10,000 people want to protest about fox hunting because somebody shows an anti-fox hunting film, we should let them.

And yet Jonren builds his case on this fairly obvious lie.
Any threat now, or in the future, of a ten thousand mob of muslims, must be met with twenty thousand police. Jonren

You cant ban a simple film This is what is so tiresome about the board's righties, they make things up at random. The film isn't banned. You're just making stuff up to whip yourself into a frenzy of non-specific persecution-by-proxy so you can feel vaguely aggreived about stuff.

Jonren should steer clear of Melanie Philipps. She'll pull the wool over his eyes and whip him into a misdirected frenzy.
Notice her deceptiveness. She says there are 'claims' from unspecified sources about Lord Ahmed's supposed mob, not that he actually made any such threat. She doesn't want to be sued for libel, but she does want Jonren and his ilk to believe the libel
"This meeting had been postponed amid claims that Lord Ahmed had previously threatened the House of Lords authorities that he would bring a force of 10,000 Muslims to lay siege to the Lords if Wilders was allowed to speak."

Where we these fearless Internet defenders of free speech when Yusuf al-Qaradawi (I think) was banned? Qaradawi calls for violence against apostates, homosexuals and Jews. Wilders hasn't called for violence towards anyone. He has just pointed out that Islam is inherently violent and supremacist. Anjem Choudry stated today or yesterday that parts of the film accurately reflect what muslims believe and has called for Wilders to be let in so that the relative merits of capitalism vs Islam can be properly debated.

He would though, wouldn't he? Otherwise he'd have to admit he's been a lying dick all his life.

Why do you say he is lying? Are you saying muslims reject the koran? It is you who is lying.

I was first to point out that Lord Ahmed was instructing his lawyers. On the basis of probability, I do not think he made the statement attributed to him. But if he did, in fact, he was not calling for a peaceful demonstration. He was issuing a threat. I honestly hope he was not so foolish to make such a statement.
