New York state police said the plane crashed into a home in Clarence Center, northeast of Buffalo. The plane was headed for Buffalo Niagara International Airport from the Newark, N.J., airport near New York City. The plane struck the house at about 10:10 p.m., State Trooper John Manthey said. The plane burst into flames when it struck the building and officials were still on the scene battling the blaze late Thursday night, Manthey said. The plane's tail section and rear fuselage were intact and burning at the scene. Two homes were affected by the crash. Twelve other homes in the area were also evacuated. Authorities said 44 passengers and four crew members were onboard, and all likely perished. One person died on the ground. The flight, Continental Airlines Flight 3407, was operated by regional carrier Colgan Air Inc., Erie County executive Chris Collins said. www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/02/13/plane-crash.html

Terrible images on the tv this morning of the burning fusilage of the plane. Very sad indeed. Apparently one person was killed in a house on the ground, all the other fatalities were passengers on the plane. The pilot was female and also died in the aircrash.
At the moment they reckon weather conditions were the reason the plane came down. Not confirmed.

I hate to say this but let's hope it wasn't a Euro plane.
