Isn't that combining English and Swedish law though? That's kinda why I pointed out it was rape under English law. Not sure what Swedish law has to say about this, but given how ball achingly PC they are on every oher issue, it's hard to imagine they take a laissez fair attitude towards the having of birds against their will. I think you're confusing the two women in the case. One (identified as AA) claimed he deliberately ruptured a condom, which seems a bit doubtful and very hard to prove. The other (SW) alleges he started to have sex with her while she was asleep (probably not rape given they'd had consensual sex the night before and he'd no reason to think she'd changed her mind) and without a condom (probably rape, as it seems she insisted on it the night before and and he'd no reason to think she'd changed her mind).

Now why would anyone want to be checked for STD's AFTER the event of unprotected sex. Kinda like checking the seat belts of a car involved in a head on collision AFTER the accident. To see if they have acquired an STD??

Silly thing is and the Judges are confused because of it that had Asssange gone to any of the European countries in the EU the arguments would be different in each case . Assanges barrister : "This is a waste of time"

And Tony Blair. They even try to pretend he was never left wing at all now.

I never regarded Assange as anything more than a self-satified tosser with a delusion estimation of his own greatness - a sort of Aussie Steve Jobs. He uses people, wether they be hapless dupes like Bernard Manning, or dim Swedish bints. That's classic rightie behaviour. If he's anything - other than a creepy Aussie tosspot hypocrite wailing because Canongate decided to publish stuff about him without his consent (HA-HA!!) - he's some sort of anarcho-individualist-quasi-libertarian. A rightie, in other words.
Hari can still redeem himself. He is, after all, a brilliant writer. he just needs to understand that it's not okay to make stuff up when it suits him.

" ... lock the door and forget about him!"
I think you've kinda hit the nail on the head here, rev. Sounds like he may have been concerned that he was no longer in the news, confirmed last week when the last of the press posse (the Biggleswade Advertiser) moved away from the Ecuadorian Embassy.
This bears out what lala was saying. Though using words I understand.

The insignificant do tend to have a low opinion of the significant. It's their revenge.

So Julian'look at me look at me now'Assange has spent two years slipping away into obscurity locked away inside a third world tinpot embassy is now suffering from health problems brought on by his self imposed prison. If he had faced the brutality of the Swedish criminal justice system he'd have been a free man. Still I expect not ending up as some martyr for freedom must weigh on him more than being cooped up in some broom closet.

As you know, he fears being 'rendered' by Sweden to face the brutality of the American justice system.

this was always a baseless fear, lets face it that would have been far easier to execute from the UK who hands anyone over the to the yanks, the Swedes never had that kind of complicity in renderings.
Still I expect he's still working hard on being more than a footnote in history, and locking himself in some broom cupboard hasn't worked, so I expect he'll now try something else to be noticed.

As you know, he fears being 'rendered' by Sweden to face the brutality of the American justice system. Of course, it has nothing to do with the likelihood of being jailed for sexual misconduct. Julian Assange would never put anything as petty as his own liberty above the the interests of justice and the law. Perish the thought that the deviant little man-child simply couldn't face the consequences of his selfish sexual predation. If he was genuinely afraid of being 'rendered' he would have been in the embassy sooner, and would still be there now.

The rendition issue was about the CIA kidnapping people and putting them on a plane for some torture cell where the CIA could work in secret or get the local dictator's men to do the actual torturing. There's an extradition treaty between Sweden and the USA and the Swedes could hand Assange over perfectly legally. All they have to do is accept American 'assurances' that Assange would get a fair trial. I don't think any torture is on the agenda, just locking him up for a 100 years or, possibly, an execution.
