From: weemadnorrie (Original Message) Sent: 30/12/2008 14:51 Gold statues, a marble bathroom, carousel horses in the garden... the first photos from inside the Celebrity Big Brother's new 'Chav palace'
With its gold taps, four-person marble bath, and gaudy flock wallpaper, the newly refurbished Celebrity Big Brother house resembles the taste-free interior of a lottery millionaire's 'chav' palace.
The first pictures of the new Big Brother house show the barriers of taste and decency have clearly been breached - and that's even before the beleaguered show begins broadcasting on Friday.
Show producers have created an interior which owes more than a nod to 70s kitsch style, and seems clearly designed to unsettle the housemates who will be confined to their tacky quarters come January.
Chav-tastic The senses of the contestants in the new series of Celebrity Big brother will be assaulted as the new house boasts its tackiest interior yet complete with marble bath, gold taps, and flock wallpaper
Sensual assault: The bathroom boasts a four-person bath to get celebrities in the mood, velvet covered sofas, sequinned cushions and embroidered throws
The roll-call of desperate celebrities set to enter the house include include former television presenter Ulrika Jonsson, ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena, Shameless actress Tina Malone, glamour model Lucy Pinder and Verne Troyer, who played Mini-Me in the Austin Powers's films.
But despite the over-the-top faux rococo look, one thing the housemates won't have is space.
More... Ulrika Jonsson upsets Celebrity Big Brother rivals by earning £175,000 - up to eight times more than them
The bedroom where they will all sleep is furnished with uncomfortable-looking double beds, with stark metal frames and blankets in place of the luxurious sleeping quarters the celebrities may be used to.
And with just five beds on show then Ulrika, Latoya and friends will have to put aside their egos and double up.
When not sleeping the housemates will be able to take it in turns to work out on two exercise bikes in the lounge area, or to relax on a regal looking red and gold chaise longue.
Welcome to the mad house: The stars who will take part in this year's Celebrity Big Brother
Bedroom basics: The no-frills bedroom where the celebrities will forgo their usual luxurious sleeping quarters
Side by side: The celebrities can indulge themselves in some keep fit on these exercise bikes
The garden, with its walls painted ice blue, features a fur-lined snug designed for flirting.
A source said: 'The snug is designed for flirting. It's fitted with romantic lights and strewn with sensual throws and cushions. A love triangle would be ideal.'
The source added: 'The house is similiar to the BB9 house but everything's bigger and better. We have kept the heaven and hell theme. One bedroom is very basic, the other is luxurious.'
There are also a couple of wicker armchairs in the large garden - although with January forecast to be one of the coldest for many years it is unlikely to be too comfortable outside.
The Channel 4 reality show is returning after a one-year absence after a race row erupted during the show in 2007, attracting the most complaints in regulator Ofcom's history.
Smoking chair: Celebrities wanting a cigarette will sit outside, and misbehaving stars will be banged up in the house's jail
Love snug: Show bosses have created a fur-lined snug designed for flirting, fitted with romantic lights and sensual throws
Ride 'em cowboy: Housemates will have the use of the carousel themed seating in the garden
Eviction walk: The last view of the house the celebrities will have before they leave
Meanwhile fans are furious that show bosses have ditched the show's live feed, meaning they won’t get to see the action as it unfolds, instead they will have to rely on the daily highlights shows.
Some devotees are even threatening to boycott the show unless the bosses at Channel 4 change their minds.
One fan wrote on a message board: 'You can feel the viewing figures dropping already with that news.'
'They are bricking it and letting the PC brigade and the saddos who complain to OFCOM on a regular basis win.' While another added: 'What an absolute load of rubbish. The live feed was the only way of knowing what actually goes on rather than the edited version they want you to see. Was getting excited about the upcoming series but all that has just gone out the window.'Celebrity Big Brother begins live at 9pm on Friday, January 2 on Channel 4. AND WE HAVE JADE GOODY AND CO TO THANK FOR NO LIVE FEED DURING THE DAY, THANKS MISS PIGGY AND CO. AND OMG I CANT STAND ANY OF THEM THIS YEAR, MAYBE TOYA JACKSON, BUT TOMMY SHERIDAN NOT A CHANCE HOPE HE GOES FIRST, HES A LOUD MOUTH TAN ADDICT BARSTEWARD AS FOR THE PRESENTERS CANT STAND JACK WHITEHALL, GEORGE LAMB, AND WORST OF ALL BARRYMORE, HOPE HE GETS ATTACKED IN THE STREET, BULLY BOY.

Did you see Ulrika trying to empathise with Mini-Me, telling him how she'd had back pain for 18 months so she knew what it must be like to be unable to do certain things Mini-Me is adorable, if he can take the pace, I think he'll win.

I had to leave the room I was so embarrassed by Ulrika Cheyenne.. but not surprised.. Is it just me that's watching..? Personally with the home news being so bad.. The awful things happening in Gaza.. my own job situation.. I'm loving this series.. It's so nice to be able to tune into people who are trying to get along and enjoying their experience.. and not get wound up by the goings on.. I can see things are going to rev up at some point.. but right now I'm loving Terry in his role as Head of House.. Muyteya (sp..??) is a real surprise as is LaToya.. but nice ones.. and I'm enjoying the 'lads chats' around the table.. though Michelle obviously wasn't.. But I really can't take to her.. or Tina.. so am not getting angry or annoyed about Michelle being 'upset' ..

I love it!! a good bunch of celebs i think! LaToya was the one thats surprised me most, she was so quiet and timid to start ( Tommys portrayal of her was hilarious lol), but her as the Jester, made me crack up! she was sooo good! and funny! and the stories shes shared about her life and her marriage, its made me look at her in a total different life. Terry as king was soo funny, he played the role fab! and he has a wicked sense of humour. TBH i like them all really, well maybe not like so much as dont dislike anyone this time lol a few of the girls are boring such as Lucy, Michelle, Ulrika, Muteya, but they arnt grating me yet! I personally hope Lucy goes, as she really brings nothign to the house. The guys are funny, Coolio and Verne when they were imitating each other was brilliant, esp Verne being pervy! lol. I think its the best CBB to date"!

This week's nominations are Ulrika, Mutya, Michelle and Tina! Coolio is stirring up a whole load of trouble with the girls. They think he is "absolutely vile and a bully". Coolio is bored and playing a game, he keeps telling the other housemates he is simply playing and he doesn't mean it. At the end of the day Coolio is a gangsta rapper, you either like him or hate him, he is simply full of himself and rubs people up the wrong way. He says he isn't a bully. He deplores bullying as he was bullied as a child. It's just a game. He has been called into the Diary Room about his behaviour and the word "bullying" and "intimidation" has been mentioned to him. I guess it makes this series a bit more interesting. He really is the only housemate at the moment with any personality irrespective of what we all think of him. Latest info on Coolio is that he is not talking to anyone any more after his telling off from Big Brother. He says he is in his shell and that's it. "Consider me a turtle in my shell!" He also says he will not participate in any tasks etc. Time will tell! Watch this space folks!

Well that's Lucy Pinder evicted last week and last night Tina Malone became the second housemate to be evicted. There will be a surprise eviction on Monday night. Apparently Mutya Buena has indicated she might walk out of the house tonight as she reckons she has had enough - time will tell!

I'm really enjoying it this year.. more than ever before.. Though Youreeka ( is driving me mad and I really wanted her off my screen tonight.. As long as she goes before Tommy I'll be happy.. I'm enjoying the ashtray chats and the late night ones too.. LaToya is a revelation.. and I love her and Terry.. They both like to stir it - but without causing strife.. [glow=red,2,300] ker[/glow]

I love it, Tho last night was 1st night i missed it ( prime suspect was on other side and i hadnt seen it b4 lol) Coolio is brilliant, nice to see some1 playing the game! Michelle was far too OTT, and needed a slap for her crying. Loving Verne he is so comical, tho i suspect Big Brother has been a lil naughty and made the most of the 'wee' man being in there, him dressed as a cute bear had me in stitches lol and him tipsy, i was crying with laughter when he zoomed in2 diaryroom door pml! Ive even grown to really like LaToya, she has a decent personality and nice to listen to some of her stories about her past, shes one of the Jacksons we dont get to hear about, and shes taken the challenges in her stride, loved it when she was dressed as a Jester, she was sooo funny! Ben is a waste f a human in there, Ulrika Hmm not sure, some days i like her tho most days i dont esp as the show goes on. Tommy a lil boring and far too hairy!!!! lol Terry is ok, nowt special but he does have a good sense of humour! Gonna miss it when it finishes. TBH i think Coolio or Verne will win it! and i think they deserve it. And NO WAY do i think Coolio has been bullying, he has been playing the game!! and it is a game remember

Well if ever the cries of FIX - before security shut them up - were justified it was Verne going out when he did.. And then when the person who must be the most unpopular winner ever came out..! I cannot believe the Great British Public wanted that woman to win..! If she suddenly becomes the face of some product or other then I'm convinced it was a rigged vote where they made sure she won.. She made it clear it was the money that was keeping her from walking.. And as for Davina..!! I cannot stand the sycophantic way she interviews some contestants compared to others.... and kudos to Coolio and Terry for not rising to her digs and jibes.. A total downer of an end to what had otherwise been a great Big Brother.. [glow=red,2,300] ker[/glow]

I must admit i had either Verne or Coolio to win, i was amazed neither did and Ulrika won! When Verne and Coolio were evicted i thought Terry would win - i still can't understand why Ulrika did! Apparently it was her rendition of Endless Love with Verne that clinched it and made her popular! I must've missed something because that was the only one time i found her entertaining! The rest of the time she was just a whinger! Roll on Summer and BB10!

It did feel a bit odd watching the final programme. In fact it was like some kind of spoof take on Celebrity BB. Everything was fine and dandy until it was just the four of them left. LaToya seemed to enjoy portraying herself as a dopey, weak kneed, air head while actually she's none of those things. I think that irritated people towards the end. Verne being voted out was a major surprise. The bookies had him to win so they must be disappointed! The wee man had everything going for him ... cuteness, tenacity, sense of humour .... damn it, he should have won. Three left and Coolio lay spread-eagled on the sofa looking for all the world as if he thought he had won. Meanwhile, Ulrika and Terry sat twiddling their thumbs and smiling nervously at each other. Those last few minutes of evictions was so strange it became truly unbelievable. During every programme, Ulrika had received more boos than anyone else .... and usually the crowd echo the feelings and votes of the public. Even when she went for her victory walk they were still booing and the atmosphere was as flat as a lead balloon. I've no idea how she really felt but she certainly looked uncomfortable .... she stood there like a lost child who had just wet her pants on the first day of school. Something was wrong .... very wrong .... I just hope we get to find out the truth in time.

I am so pleased you said that Cathy, i thought it was just me thinking that! I mentioned it when i saw it at home ~ Ulrika looked like a rabbit in headlights, scared witless! I agree it was very odd that she was cheered at the end when she had been booed all the way through! A voting mess-up maybe?! Who knows?!

I doubt it Cathy! There have been so many instances of fixed voting, problems with phone votes etc lately. I personally don't think we will ever know. They reckon that Ulrika winning was the biggest shock result in the whole of BB's history! All the other winners were clearly ahead in the past and front runners! Ulrika was twice up for eviction, and was very unpopular at the start. Remember the boos she received?! Very odd finish to the series indeed!

I must be the only one pleased she won. Surprised but pleased nevertheless.
I found her the most REAL person in there, followed closely by Terry who i'm chuffed got second.
Latoya i'd find hard to pee on if she was on fire......sly not shy!!!!! Verne i found creepy and sleazy, but hey he's only small :s Coolio amused me as i found myself laughing at his pathetic attempts to sound hard......more hampster than gangsta if you ask me. Tommy i lost respect for as he turned out to be Coolios wee lap dog, no leadership qualities on show at all, which more than disappointed me. The rest i could take or leave in equal quantities.

I gave up watching this years ago, it was only by browsing through this thread that I knew who was in it, let alone who won. However, I found this for you!CHANNEL 4 chiefs will hold crunch talks over the future of Celebrity Big Brother after TWO MILLION fewer people watched the final. Around 3.5million saw Ulrika Jonsson crowned this year’s surprise winner. More than five million watched the past five finals, with Chantelle Houghton’s victory in 2006 seen by 6.8million. The show is more expensive to make than regular BB, with bosses forking out thousands on celebrities’ fees. They spent nearly a million this year. TV star Ulrika, 41, pulled in a massive £175,000 for the three-week show. An insider said: “This series has basically been a flop and bosses are pretty unhappy as it costs so much to make. “They expected ratings to be down a bit as the format is getting tired but losing two million was unthinkable. “There are also problems with the audience. Most people who watch it are old and not attractive to advertisers. “C4 and producers will now meet to find out what went wrong and there are concerns that CBB may bite the dust.” Ratings were some of the lowest ever not just for CBB, but all versions of the show. At one point last week it slumped to 1.2million viewers — beaten by BBC2’s Victorian Farm with a million more. CBB was “rested” last year when C4 got cold feet after the Shilpa Shetty bullying scandal in 2007. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle2170544.ece and......Ulrika Jonsson’s shock Big Brother victory has sparked a fans’ revolt which looks like killing off the show. Diehard fans are planning on boycotting any future series because they reckon the result was rigged. Ulrika, 41, left the nation stunned as she took the crown on Friday night. She was a big outsider behind favourite Verne Troyer, 40, who left the house in fourth place. Even Ulrika herself believed the result had been tampered with. On hearing the news she said: “No way, it’s a fix.” And the show’s army of fans agree. They have lashed out at the result because Ulrika was never one of the favourites from the moment the show started three weeks ago. Our phones rang off the hook and hundreds of readers sent in texts and emails about the “fix” as soon as Ulrika won. And one online forum, with 120,000 members, saw her poll just 10%. www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/67230/Exclusive-Big-Bro-fans-in-fix-revolt/

I have yet to meet anybody who will admit to voting for Ulrika. What a set-up! The bookies had Verne as the hot favourite, yet he came in 4th. Rare that the bookies get events SO wrong. My daughter and I just laughed when we watched the live final unfolding. I hope Ulrika heard all those jeers from the crowd and cries of "fix".
