Have a look at any news media site - or even a real newspaper and see how much news is going on around the world - not least in Europe this week and compare how many items actually rated a thread here. Its poor, very poor and if it weren't for the tired and boring muslim haters there would be little posted at all probably.

Yep, I have had a few complaints that this site is too into Muslim issues for them to be happy here. We need more diversity and less Islam.

The problem isn't the discussions really. It seems to be the vitriol that comes from those who disagree with some opinions expressed.

This is a discussion site. People should be allowed to argue any opinion is a civilised manner without fear of being called silly names.

I may be wrong. Perhaps there is a simpler reason.

But in any case, anticipating wading through endless insults because someone expresses an opinion is depressing.

Have you considered a separate board,for those interested in Islam in our society and others,sushi?

I know it would be a bit tricky to think of a name for it but it would mean that people who were intersted in Islam, and it's impact at home and abroad, would have somewhere to gravitate to whilst leaving the General news board free for other discussions.

I don't understand how you would do that, unless you have a rule saying no one is allowed to talk about the 'I' word.

People can and do put up threads on other topics and nothing is stopping them sticking to those topics. The 'I' word, like it or not, is one of the most topical and contentious issues of the day, at a local, national and a global level.

Threads where everyone agrees die a quick death, and I guess it's a feature of the web that the most contentious issues are the most prominent. Put up a stimulating news story of your own, one that attracts posters and one they will want to continue discussing.

Alternatively there's always chit chat if that's more your cup of tea. Or sometimes, if I really want to relax, I put on Gardener's Questions on Radio 4.

If folks dont like the news threads about islam instead of complaining to managers why dont they create some threads of there own about news they ' like ' ??
I dont complain about threads that i find boring!
Those who moan And leave the group are a bit useless so no loss if they cant make a decent thread!

Well, speaking for myself, I've been working. I don't have internet access during the day (I don't work from home or in an office) so I can only log on during the evening.

If I call in the pub for a livener on my way home I'll probably fall asleep after my meal and won't even bother turning the PC on.

I also have a lively social life which means interacting with real people on a regular basis.

That's all well and good, but how often has a non Islam thread suddenly become an Islam thread? It does happen way too often, I know, some I put up went that way, and I very rarely put up an Islamic thread.

Tried that seperate thing on another forum Puffin, but it was just ignored, as like I said above - too many threads that bore no relation to Islam, suddenly turned that way.

Insert boring between contentious and issues and you'll be nearer the mark and include compulsive Cobbs because you seem to post about bugger all else.

As Sush says we need diversity to broaden the discussions to attract the membership back and bring in new blood, otherwise the place will die.

If you are happy to focus on very limited subjects then I'm sure you would be happy with any site that also seemed full of your favourites.

There are those who do like a bit of variety in news items. Unfortunately they do seem to have gone elsewhere.

I've not complained about threads I don't like. I've just voted with my absence for much of the time, as have a lot more, I see. It's a pity to see good posters go though.

Like Beachy I too have a life outside the tabloids.

As far as I know he hasn't. He joined another type of groups instead but didn't last long there.
