I see the gardeners have a board to use

So they can go there instead of using ' gardening ' as a excuse to mess up any other threads that they do not like. ( A lefty tactic )
So no excuse now for veggie talk being posted in other threads to detere from the topic. Cool!
How about also a board for ' The war on Terror ' or a Religion thread where all stuff Islam and others too can be debated. Is this a good idea ?

Maybe we can have a rule that muslims are never mentioned in a topic where they aren't in the lead post?

It won't happen, I'm well aware of that, in the same way that you'll never stop people devaiting from the original topic. Deviations are often the most interesting part of a lot of threads.

I think it would prove difficult to enforce a rule to stop threads from deviating onto other topics.
It would seem very dull and pedestrian, almost robotic.
I have to say I don't mind any posters or any topics or any thread deviations, for the record.
It's half the fun for me when a serious thread contains posts about the topic, and then a line about gardening or football.
If you want to air your views then I think it's only fair to allow others to air theirs, even though they may be different to your own.
The only thing which can crop up is repetition, where posters troll instead of debating.
I'm sure we can all act like grown ups a little bit though

Sorry Sweet Soul but I agree with the others when they say we can't prevent threads deviating from the main topic.

In any conversation .. be it serious or amusing .. it nearly always strays from the original subject sooner or later.

It's the same here ... when threads run out of steam and people start posting other interests, (which may or may not have anything to do with the original post) it simply means they are tired of the same old arguments going round and round ad nauseum.

Of course, there's no reason why someone else can't bring it back to it's main point ... as they often do.

What about my idea of a War On Terror news board? As its in the news everyday. Unlike gardening, which isnt news at all, and has only ever been used in threads by lefties in threads they dislike to divert from the main topic, which is fine if thats how they have their fun. Sooo, War On Terror, a good board idea , would be populer ? Yes ?
