Wow i only just found out that Europe had an anthem!! did any of you guys know? Ode to Joy by Beethoven. Its a classic classical piece  Just thought i'd share. |

I didn't know there was an official anthem either (did we vote on it) ? Although Ode To Joy is a rousing piece of music and I've heard it performed many times. It gets my vote.  |

I knew it was used as a European anthem but I didn't know there was anything official about it. Maybe we could have a Eurovision style election to choose - or on second thoughts, maybe not.

I think I'll stick with Ode of Joy.
I like Europe. One day America might have such beautiful cities, but I very much doubt it.
Never mind. They can always come over and look at what their ancesters left behind.

Why does Europe or more narrowly defined the EU need an anthem?
It is not a country. I will never stand up for any sort of EU anthem. In fact I would go so far as to be as boorish as possible to make sure everyone knows the contempt I have for the EU and all its works.
That aside Ode to Joy is an excellent peice of music - pity it has been hijacked to reprsent oppression and corruption.
