"Prisoner star Patrick McGoohan has died at the age of 80. McGoohan wrote and starred in The Prisoner from 1967 Emmy-winning actor Patrick McGoohan, best known for starring in cult 1960s TV show The Prisoner, has died at the age of 80. He died in Los Angeles after a short illness, his film producer son-in-law Cleve Landsberg told Associated Press. McGoohan played the character Six in the surreal 1960s show, filmed in the north Wales village of Portmeirion. He won two Emmy awards for his work on TV detective series Columbo, playing different characters. The first came for an episode of the series in 1974, with another 16 years later." news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7829267.stmI loved this show! Sci-fi at its very best IMHO. A friend of mine, sadly no longer with us, met him many years ago and remarked to me that he had "the most incredible blue eyes you've ever seen". RIP Patrick McGoohan, you are a free man.

The series had a cult following in it's prime, it would have been fascinating in this day of Internet forums to know how people viewed it. This is another actor unheard of for years, then suddenly you just hear he has died. The older you get the more often this seems to be happeening!

He quit the secret service / agency that he worked for. They think he has "INFORMATION" that could be dangerous or embarrassing. They also want to know why he suddenly quit. To get married, I seem to remember that from somewhere.

It was very sad news.. I remember the discussions the programme caused - mostly about what it didn't tell us.. For instance - was it a follow on from Danger Man...? Copyright would have prevented the main character having a name as The Prisoner had no links to the production company of Danger Man.. [glow=red,2,300]ker[/glow]

Good to see you LMT!
Interesting theory re Prisoner being sequel to Danger Man (which I used to watch - yes I really am that old)...
