Flies

I know that this is extremely random, but. I live in a penthouse apartment which sits on the highest point in Nottingham. We have a very nice lounge, which has French windows that opens up to a nice and spacious verdanda. With all the lovely warm weather, I tend to leave the windows open. But the flies get in, and tend to fly around (don't know why), the central light fitting on my lounge ceiling. Now I really can't stand flies, dirty creatures. Anyway, there normally tends to be about 10 flies, flying around at the same time, the same way also - I have noticed all of this. So fly spray to the ready, I squirt them, and surely enough they fly to their death. Mayday, mayday, they are done and dusted. But ten minutes later, there are another ten flies flying around the same light fitting!!! How can this be? Why don't I have twenty flies flying around my light fitting, why only ten. Doesn't matter how many times I kill them, they still come back in tens, no more. Now I'm no fly expert. lol But I'm getting ducking sic of them. Any advice would be appreciated...

Now now children!!! Hate the use of fly sprays indoors, but I would impregnate the light fitting with some - in years gone by fly papers used to sort them out. You can still buy them, but they are hellish messy. When in the tropics, we used sheer nets, weighted at the bottom, sprayed them outside so the deterrant was there, but it wasn't overpowering.

I hate fly spray too, it really smells, but I hate flies more. I shall have to decorate some nets, sounds like a good idea Sushimo. Thanx. And sorry for being childish.

You can buy fly screens - or make your own. cgi.ebay.co.uk/Easy-Fit-Door-Fly-Screen%2fCurtain--fits-up-to-2.15m-x-1m_W0QQitemZ380060014330QQcmdZViewItemI just bought some very fine netting, curtain weights, all from Dunelm Mill and two slim expander poles. Overlapped them by alternate on each pole, weights on bottom dropped them back in place on a walkthrough. They can be drawn back when not needed, but they do work. All that's needed is some straight sewing on a machine to head and tail them, thread the poles in top, weights in bottom, and there you go.!

because it only takes 10 of them to tell you the story they are giving to you. If you had twenty the odds are its a twenty fly story or 2 ten fly stories. If you watch closely you'll see the same repeated flight path done over and over again and thats because your not fecking listening to them or paying attention. If you had of been they would have told you the story and fecked off again in seconds.

flies are exceptional creatures that will give you stories in the same way that a dog will give you unconditional love. This fact was well know by the CIA, FBI and various drug enforcement agencies that discovered they were ,but for one small detail, highley effective at sniffing out drug smuglers passing through various international aiorports. There only failing was their insistance in wearing tiny black trench coats and sunglasses making them easyily spottable by most self respecting drug runners

Thanx for the link Sushimo and advice, there is a Dunelm near me, so I will go and check them out. I thought about decorating them also with sequins and gold thread etc. Should look pretty during the Summer months and keep the nasty insects out.

My mum Yord is in love with the world! She views things in a different way. That fly, that she considered her 'friend', that followed her everywhere. Truly was her friend. In her opinioin. One time, a pigeon came and gave birth to eggs on her balcony
