A vicar blasted Corrie (Coronation Street ITV Programme) crew members got covering up an "offensive" cross while filming at his church. Rev James Milnes said the decision to avoid the offending non-Christian soap fans was "ludicrous". Producers chose 14th century St Mary's Church in Nether Alderley, Cheshire, for the wedding of Tyrone and Molly. But they had the solid brass cross on the altar hidden behind a candelabre and fake flowers. The vicar argued that his church was an English church so who would be offended by seeing a cross? "It's what people would expect to see" he said. "It is ludicrous, political correctness gone mad!"

It was incredibly stupid. If they are supposed to be showing a situation as it would be then that's exactly what they should have done. if they didn't want religious symbols shown they should have scripted a civil wedding ceremony at a registry office or other registered venue. It's excellent that the church has decided to spend the filming fee on.... A new Silver Altar cross.  |

They could have sent the money to a local Mosque, in case it (The Cross) had upset anybody.

It's a daft idea. if you go in a church you expect to see the things that are displayed in a church.
I don't know which moron decided to be offended on behalf of people who wouldn't even think of being offended.
They deserve a slap.

I didn't mean your post was daft, scoob, I meant the whole idea of people being offended by the inside of a church looking like the inside of a church was daft.
