This kind of attention for Muslims is a million times more useful than endless raving about the Koran and quoting Hate Muslims sites. The Muslim Women Power List is intended as a celebration of the 100,000 Muslim women in Britain who have reached the top of their field or are on the fast track to success. A recent survey of Pakistani and Bangladeshi women aged up to 35 by the commission found that they had the same aspirations as their non-Muslim counterparts - to balance a career with having a family - and that their families largely supported them in realising those goals. www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article5519490.ece

Probably somebody along the lines of Rachida Dati, French Justice Minister, would be what those nominating top Muslim woman should be thinking of.

Rachida Dati would be condemned by most muslims - a child out of wedlock, unveiled

My nomination is Dr. Waffa Suiltan. Maybe her current "Muslim" affiliation has been doubted but I did not check the other 100,000.....

No way. Bertrus is clearly a brilliant intellectual who regularly puts on a goat costume and gets buggered by some dressup gay bar Bedouin nomad. Two consenting adults behind closed doors. The guy in the nomad costume is probably an economics professor called Crawford Swoons.

100,000 Muslim women are at the top of their field or are on their way up? (must be a lot of fields!) Can we now take it that there are no 'racial' barriers to their success anymore?
Anyway, I'll vote for Ayan Hirsi Ali.

Oh, it blatantly has to be Konnie Huq, the former Blue Peter presenter who liked to "accidentally" show a little too much cleavage. She describes herself as a "relaxed Muslim". We need more relaxed Muslims.

My nomination has to be the former First Lady of Egypt - Jihan Sadat
''Despite her piety and the fact that she lives in a predominantly Muslim nation where women have little power, Jihan holds intensely modern views. Her advocacy of women's rights and birth control has caused striking social change in Egypt.''

Bertrus is right in that this sort of crap might do a bit to improve things. It's just news to me that Bertrus thinks that things need improving. I formerly held the impression that Bertrus was eager to accept muslims as the masters of the planet.
But I suppose that it's a perception thing. It's not the muslims that need to change, it's the way stupid warlike westerners and hebes perceive muslims that must improve. We're so blind and bigotted.

WAtchman, Konnie Huq looks a little startled in the ohoto of yours. Looks like you scared her...!
Do they have to be famous? If so I'm really liking Rachida Dati, for giving her daoughter a cool name and sticking two fingers up to the mob who thinks a mother's place is in the home (the hate on the Times bllog site because she dared to go back to work 5 days after birth is particularly inspiring!)
If they don't have to be famous can I nominate my Muzzie mates? Anyone in my social circle has to be a top person by default.

And I'll add Irshad Manji, naturally and that Afghan politican whose name I forget.

I'll also nominate that atheist bus woman. I've no idea if she's Muslim but she looks Asian/MEish and she's very fit.

I'm guessing if she's atheist then she isn't Muslim. It's a kind of one or the other thing, you see.
What a load of guff, by the way.
