How about investing in renewable energy Scoob? And in more energy efficient tools? And deploying less energy hungry processes? Or would those things all be just "madness"? How about you stop using your computer? Not likely, since you are just another one of those "do as i say, not as i do" hypocrites.

How would that help, Rick?
I have a roof full of solar cells. And by advising you on green issues I expect to double my effect. Soon. Any day now.

Um ... Where did I say that was necessary? Plant more trees and find alternatives to burning fossil fuels. You say we need to do something, so as a teacher, lead by example, do something rather than talk about it. Plant trees? sure, where? what are you going to do with them? Burn them, eat them? Stop burning fossile fuel, ok, turn off your heating. Plant trees and leave them alone. They are made out of carbon, after all. Not using central heating is not finding an alternative to fossil fuels. We can still use electricity and even cars in the brave green world, as long as it isn't reliant on burning fossil fuels. None of which should distract us from the fact that your claim we had to abandon modern living is hogwash. That will happen if we DON'T take action about climate change, not if we do.

How about you stop using your computer? Not likely, since you are just another one of those "do as i say, not as i do" hypocrites. All you're being asked to do at this stage is look at the science with an open mind, rather than re-vomiting deceit from sites like hockeyschtick.blogspot.co.nz/2014/11/updated-list-of-64-excuses-for-18-26.html. And it isn't a case of "Do as I say, not as I do." It's more a case of "If you don't do as I say, there isn't much point in me doing it either." It's a global problem. Individual action will make no difference at all. Until our governments actually sort their sh*t out and come up with a decent response, there isn't much point in individual self-flagellation over this. I'm quite willing to live in a mud hut if everyone else is. If no-one else is, I'm probably a lot better placed to endure the consequences than anyone else posting here. Hell, my home will be a beach front property in hundred years, if thins continue as they are just now.

I genuinely don't care what my property will be like in 100 years.

You have neither property nor children, so I'm not surprised/

If I had property or children I still wouldn't care.
What happens when I'm dead doesn't bother me.

I most certainly did in the UK.
I haven't looked into it in Oz. They don't want my filthy British blood so I assumed they didn't want my filthy British organs.

The only thing I didn't agree with was letting them have my eyes.
As they remove the organs while you are still alive, that seemed too personal. Yes, yes, they tell everyone you are 'effectively' dead, but never so dead your body is not actually functioning. They don't reanimate dead steak.

Well, according to what you say, continue as we are we will be anyway. There you go, sorted.
Just enjoy the car, the aeroplane, the travel, the luxury of modern living while it lasts.
As for you having a beach front property in 100yrs time, with rising sea levels how will that work when you're underwater?

The warmers/doomers have been non-stop in blaming the California drought on global warming. Now the state is finally getting rain. Are the warmers/doomers happy? Hell no! Now they are pissing and moaning that the rain is being caused by,,,global warming. "The eyeroller you knew was going to happen"tinyurl.com/pt4pe8t

I would expect low tech housing would be completely out, as it would too unprotected from the elements, and solar radiation. Surely the tendency would be for living in bomb shelters or controlled environment domes, for the rich, while the unprotected suffer or die off in standard housing?

When I went for a drive a couple of days ago it was about 20C, sunny and there were palm trees. Now I'm no longer driving and all that carbon dioxide from my car is in the air it's well below freezing, there's a foot of snow on the ground, and the palm trees have been replaced by pines.
How can you people say carbon dioxide makes it warmer?

As for you having a beach front property in 100yrs time, with rising sea levels how will that work when you're underwater? Are you unusually thick? My property is well inland and well above the current sea level. In a hundred years, the sea level will have risen to be lapping at the bottom of my garden

Can you point to where I - or any other 'global warming wally' - has said that? Or is it just one of your odd little fantasies?
