Every one knows they've been taking a load of bribes for decades. Interesting that a few are finally getting arrested. I wonder what Uncle Sepp has done to avoid being dragged away in manacles. www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32895048Really interesting that the Swiss are actually helping out. They normally quietly ignore corruption in international organisations within their borders.

As an aside, I'm delighted that
(a) the bloke who's testimony appears to be key in this is an administrator called "Mr Blazer"
(b) the most important bloke done for corruption comes from the Cayman Islands.
It's almost too obvious.

More on Chuck Blazer... (1) He's called Chuck Blazer (2) He actually owns a spare apartment in Trump Tower for his cats (3) He's so fat that he was on a mobility scooter when he was arrested by the FBI and turned informant/snitch You'd think the whole thing was written by Armando Iannucci, except it's too slapstick.

I suspect a film is being considered already!
Blazer could be played by the guy who voiced Nemo's dad!

Fifa should be run entirely by the British. These foreigners can't be trusted. They're genetically disposed towards thievery and nicking sh*t.

Interestingly it's the US behind all of this as far as I can make out. They don't f*ck about when it comes to investigating fraud, unlike our useless SFO.
If these lads get done in America they'll be away for a very, very long time.
And exclellent work on the Blatter butter thing FA

I don't get why the US should take the lead here, surely this is more of a EU matter

The EU is even more genetically disposed towards corruption than oily foreign types.

Thifa is such a sleazy organisation, I doubt removing a few at the top will make a whole lot of difference to be honest.

I don't get why the US should take the lead here, surely this is more of a EU matter Well, it's because the US has the evidence. And these are crimes committed on US soil. It's actually not an EU matter: Switzerland's not in the EU, and all those accused (this time) are from the North and South American footy federations, all fingered by US footy-crook Chuck Blazer. Also, the US really doesn't care about pissing off FIFA in a way that many countries do; and has a huge amount of clout because, basically, lots of banking transactions involve the US and therefore the crimes eventually have money laundering and wire-fraud aspects that come into the US.

The Yanks are usually quite keen on sending fraudsters down for a long time. We usually just give them seats in the Lords.

After FIFA the US can investigate Bush, Cheney and Co. As they're so keen on justice.
And of course, footie/soccer doesn't figure much in the US, not like baseball and American football. So any way to throw some muck in the face of the favorite game of the rest of the world.
