I think he's resigned because Valcke was implicated. And once Valcke was implicated, he was going to squeal.

I think he's resigned because Valcke was implicated. And once Valcke was implicated, he was going to squeal. How long before the Russians start topping FIFA execs? They will be tidying up loose ends shortly.

I'm not sure the Russians really care. It's almost impossible to get 2018 moved fast enough. And all the hatred is really about Qatar 2022, because it screws with the big Europeans clubs seasons. Russia, for all its flaws, is actually a reasonable place to hold a World Cup, even if they did bribe their way to hosting it. So it's pretty unlikely anyone will move 2018.
Actually, the Big European Club thing is interesting. Now there's a power vacuum in FIFA, the likes on Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munchen will be putting all kinds of pressure on. FIFA has been something of a block on their total domination of world football, and they might be quite pleased to see Blatter gone.
The New World Order may not be better than the old one.

As an aside, Greg Dyke really is an utter cunt, and totally clueless, an idiot, and clearly has no idea that he's actually meant to be a bit diplomatic dealing with FIFA. Instead he's playing to the basest prejudices of the English footballing supporter. And, let's be honest here, there's nothing much baser than the average English football fan to start with.

Well nearly. Still be there for a few months, whilst he organises to get his Mini-Me elected.
Just enough time to: Install the industrial size shredders and de-gaussers needed to get rid of any remaining evidence. Arrange for his pension to be paid via a Cayman Islands holding company. Move to some tropical island, without a US extradition treaty.

The way things are going in the US there is an outside chance FIFA may get deemed a criminal organisation making it illegal for US companies and companies with interests in the US market to have dealings with it, if that happens, poof, no world footy organisation to squabble over. I know its unlikely, but those who love conspiracies will already be pointing at this as a US plot to destroy the dominance of footy.

Some of the American news sites have suggested that the FBI might use RICO to go after other members of FIFA. Racketeering might be hard to prove but Corrupt Organisation, thats easy, its FIFA FFS. Its like the news headlines, "FIFA Corruption scandle", that not news, thats a normal Thursday.

I may have mentioned my distaste for Greg Dyke earlier. If not, well... Anyway, I think the racist cuntbag has pretty much guaranteed England won't ever host a World Cup in my lifetime. www.theguardian.com/media/2015/jun/05/greg-dyke-interview-people-keep-saying-well-done-you-got-rid-of-blatter...It’s not colonialism at all. But there is no doubt that there are a set of values which you find in western Europe, and in America, and in Australia, that don’t apply everywhere.” Such as? “Well, my experience in Africa is that when people go into politics in Africa, it’s incumbent upon you as part of that to look after your family. That’s just cultural, it’s a cultural difference.” [As an aside, with no sense of irony at all, this comes later in the same piece] Although appalled by corruption, he cheerfully admits to granting interviews to journalists whose fathers were his friends (including, full disclosure, the editor who commissioned this piece), while denying others’ requests, and looks astonished when I call this nepotism. “It’s not nepotism! It’s just people I’ve known as kids! No, it’s not about nepotism, it’s about helping people, if you know them.”
