All the best people suck-ups.
For a nominee to helm the U.S. government’s intelligence apparatus, Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) draws on some unusual sources of information.
Ratcliffe’s official, verified campaign Twitter account follows several accounts on the political fringe, including a 9/11 truther account with just one follower besides himself and four promoting the outlandish QAnon conspiracy theory, which posits that the world is run by a cabal of Democratic pedophile-cannibals—and has been ruled a potential source of domestic terrorism by the FBI.
The conspiracy theorists followed by Ratcliffe, whose nomination for director of national intelligence goes before the Senate intelligence committee Tuesday morning, cover a bizarre range of beliefs. They posit that John F. Kennedy Jr. faked his death to help Trump to take down the Deep State. Others claim a Democratic sex dungeon exists in in a Washington pizzeria. But Ratcliffe and the QAnon promoters he follows have one thing in common: utter loyalty to Trump.
FFS, Trump would have our entire government divorced from any shred of reality. What an utter douche.

Another hero of the far right (i.e. nut case) who Trump considers a respectable member of the press in the news with his own plan on dealing with the lockdown: Far-right conspiracist and certified nut Alex Jones isn't happy about the coronavirus lockdown, and he says if it lasts much longer he might eat his neighbors. It's been less than two months since America went into lockdown across various states, but Jones said he's already thought about cannibalism.
"I'll admit it. I will eat my neighbors," he said on his radio talk show on Friday. "I won't have to for a few years 'cause I got food and stuff. ... But I'm literally looking at my neighbors now and going, 'I'm ready to hang 'em up and gut 'em and skin 'em. My daughters aren't starving to death. I will eat my neighbors...I will."www.complex.com/life/2020/05/alex-jones-cannibalizing-neighbors-lockdown-i-will-eat-your-ass

It's hardly surprising Trump picks a far right conspiracy nut, he appears to believe all manner of visibly insane crap himself. We know he hates facts and evidence, as most of the right do, so picking this bloke is not that much of a shock now. All the grown ups have gone, hes left with Millar and Pompao.

So, the Trump administration has just lost two huge court cases at the Supreme Court. Firstly, people are no longer allowed to sack a trans person for just being trans. Now, today, the administration is not allowed to deport people who arrived in the US before they were able to make any judgement about it, and who have never known anywhere else as home.
The first win was fairly simple. The second one the justices would have been fine to let go, but the administration crafted its legislation so incompetently that it was illegal.
The base is going to feel very pissed off that they spent so much effort and money stacking the court and they're not getting all their wins.
BUT! The only reason that Roberts and Gorsuch are handing a couple of wins to the center is because they're playing politics. They know they need a ton of political capital and to not be seen as extremists. There's an abortion decision coming very soon, and I suspect we're going to see most of Roe v Wade nullified.

Can this week get any worse for Trump, just lost another one. Top State Department official resigns in protest of Trump’s response to racial tensions in the country A senior State Department official who has served in the Trump administration since its first day is resigning over President Trump’s recent handling of racial tensions across the country — saying that the president’s actions “cut sharply against my core values and convictions.” Mary Elizabeth Taylor, assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs, submitted her resignation Thursday. Taylor’s five-paragraph resignation letter, obtained by The Washington Post, serves as an indictment of Trump’s stewardship at a time of national unrest from one of the administration’s highest-ranking African Americans and an aide who was viewed as loyal and effective in serving his presidency. “Moments of upheaval can change you, shift the trajectory of your life, and mold your character. The President’s comments and actions surrounding racial injustice and Black Americans cut sharply against my core values and convictions,” Taylor wrote in her resignation letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “I must follow the dictates of my conscience and resign as Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs www.washingtonpost.com/politics/top-state-department-official-resigns-in-protest-of-trumps-response-to-racial-tensions-in-the-country/2020/06/18/e142e342-b181-11ea-a567-6172530208bd_story.html

Don't you understand. It's all about him. Our choices on mask wearing are literally only to do with Trump. It's certainly not because we don't want to risk infecting our fellow humans.

Bizarre stuff yesterday with Barr claiming that the chief federal prosecutor in New York was resigning, and then the prosecutor promptly saying that he wasn't and the first he'd heard of it was William Barr's press release.
The Barr and Trump really are trying to blow up as much of the legal structures in the country as they can before they get kicked out. Particularly here, though, because this bloke is investigating Giuiliani, investigated Cohen, is investigating Epstein. Basically, the attorney for the SDNY is - in many ways - the biggest job in US prosecution because so many high profile crimes are committed on Wall Street and so many high-profile people live in Manhattan.

It's odd because it's not clear whether Trump has the authority to replace him - the statute explicitly contradicts itself "He keeps his job until a permanent successor is appointed" and "The president has the power to remove him".
What is clear is that he hasn't "resigned", no matter what the DoJ says.

This is big, Barr protecting Trump couldn’t be more obvious. That position has been unfilled by Senate confirmation for 3.5 years now and they want to do and end-around to get a cult member in.
Just another egregious crime at the highest levels of government that jumbo and rick can whistle by like it’s some liberal conspiracy to smear Trump.

This is all fine. Six Trump staffers who were prepping Tulsa for his hybrid Tulsa Massacre Celebration/Juneteenth comiseration have tested positive for Covid. There's no risk at all of anyone actually catching the disease when there are 20,000 people in an enclosed space cheering...

I expect if Trump loses in November, once hes stopped squalling about how it was rigged, refusing to accept the results, railing against the deep state and every other moan, I expect him and Moscow Mitch will do recess apointments to every single open lifetime post going with a selection of extreme far right anti everything progressive thing going nut jobs. Count on it.
Thought Obama missed a trick when he didnt recess apoint Garland, as you the reps will certainly do it.

Well a shambolic end to a shambolic week for Trump, as if ranting to a quarter full arena wasn't humiliating enough the sorry tale of his nobbling the attorney for the SDNY has exposed once again the corruption of his regime. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53123847What happened on Friday? The row between the attorney general and the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan began on Friday night, when Mr Barr issued a press release announcing that Mr Berman was "stepping down" after two-and-a-half years in the post. Mr Berman had "done an excellent job", achieving "many successes on consequential civil and criminal matters", Mr Barr said. He added that the president intended to nominate Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Jay Clayton, who has never served as a federal prosecutor, as Mr Berman's successor. Not long afterwards, Mr Berman issued his own a statement, saying he had learned he was "stepping down" from the press release. "I have not resigned, and have no intention of resigning, my position," he added. "I will step down when a presidentially appointed nominee is confirmed by the Senate." Mr Barr's announcement appeared to surprise the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Lindsey Graham. He said Mr Clayton's nomination would still have to be approved by New York's two Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, who are both Democrats. Senator Schumer tweeted: "This late Friday night dismissal reeks of potential corruption of the legal process. What is angering President Trump? A previous action by this US Attorney or one that is ongoing?" On Saturday, Mr Barr told him that he had asked the president to remove him immediately, and that he had done so. Top US Democrat Nancy Pelosi said she believed there were "base and improper motives" in the sacking of Mr Berman and that the Attorney General "must be held accountable for his actions". Mr Berman oversaw the prosecution of a number of Mr Trump's associates.

missed this massive win. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53118721A US judge has rejected a request by President Donald Trump to stop the publication of a memoir by his former National Security Adviser, John Bolton. what a week, he's ended up looking like Ernie Terrel in the 15th round with America yelling 'say my name' as blow after blow lands
