Oh! They left the embassy in Tel Aviv? So they haven't done anything?
US Congress already passed a resolution stating that Jerusalem was the capital but that the President could delay moving the embassy until such time as made sense. So Trump is literally saying nothing. A bunch of sound and fury signifying nothing? Apart from trying to get a few US citizens blown up around the world, that is...

Bush, Clinton, and Obama all promised to move the embassy, all have been putting it off for years, for that we have had great peace in the Middle East all these years

Talking of winning, how about thisfor a spectacular f**k-up by the Republicans in the senate? In the last minutes of writing their tax bill when they hadn't really thought about things and were just scribbling sh*t in the margins, they reinstated the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax, because they needed some extra cash to pay off Susan Collins and Ron Johnson who wanted other things in the bill. Unfortunately, they didn't actually think about what they were doing, because they didn't have time. It's almost as if they were trying to shove the bill through regardless of what it did. So - what happened was they left the Corporate AMT exactly as it was - which was at 20%. Stupidly not realising that this was the level of their actual new Corporation tax. People pay the "minimum tax" when they take so many deductions that their overall tax rate goes below the "minimum tax". Well, if they minimum tax is the same as the basic rate, then all those juicy pork deductions put in to help companies are worth nothing... This is basically hilarious, because it means (a) the House can't just pass the Senate bill if they fail with reconciliation; and (b) they have to find more money from somewhere to meet the budget and reconciliation rules.

Jerusalem is currently occupied by Israel - why would it be recognised as Israel’s capital? The sensible solution is what it was - split between Israel and Palestine.

you would think the dems in the house would all vote to pass the Senate bill, except they are in the just say no mode, Why? It's just a massive f**k up. It means companies won't deduct their R&D investments, for example. Dems are all in favour of research and investment. The rest of the bill is also terrible, which is another reason for Dems not to vote for it. It's also worth noting that this is just the first f**k up that people have found scrawled in the margins. Who knows what other unintended consequences will be found from un-thought-about additions? There is an argument, though, that works for the Dems. When the Dems get back into power, they've discovered that Republicans have found $1.5tn dollars that they don't mind spending. So the Dems can put the Corporate tax rate back up and spend that $1.5tn on something actually useful. The Reps have found the money, now whoever is in power can spend it on their pet stuff. Republicans are currently spending it on giving cash to billionaires, but when the Dems get in they'll spend it on helping poor people.

They just wanted to have a win, any win would do given how they've not managed anything at all for almost a year of having control of all three bits of government, and the Koch relief bill was going to be it, sadly despite having years to put something together, I mean how many Ryan plans have there been, they still cobble something together on back of a fag packet that is simply crap. The oligarchs are gonna be unhappy if their handouts done appear at the end of this.

I think if ever those on line dictionaries needed a perfect example when defining hyperbolic they just need to print that headline, the desperation on the right these days verges on hysterics

Trump's endorsement didn't work for 50% of voters in Alabama. Jones won about 50 per cent of the vote compared with about 49 per cent for Moore, with Jones benefiting from strong African American turnout and a white share of the vote about twice as large as Barack Obama won in 2008. Fifty-six per cent of women voted for Jones, according to exit polls, while 58 per cent of men voted for Moore. Just under 2 per cent of voters in the state wrote in a third candidate. Neither did this: The president’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, all but adopted Moore as the public face of his insurgent effort to topple the congressional leadership of the Republican Party. Bannon appeared at both of Moore’s rallies in the final week, and he deployed the full force of his Breitbart News operation to support the campaign. Exit polls showed a steep drop in support for Trump since his victory in 2016. Just 48 per cent of voters approved of the president’s job performance, higher than the national average but well below the levels of 2016, when Trump adopted Alabama as one of his favourite locations for large rallies. It was the second time in two months that the state flouted Trump’s endorsement. Republican primary voters also rejected Sen. Luther Strange, the president’s choice in the September runoff. www.thestar.com/news/world/2017/12/13/what-happened-in-alabama-as-democrat-doug-jones-pulls-out-win-republicans-left-to-bicker-in-roy-moore-aftermath.htmlReally glad I got home in time to watch this go down. Still suffering from jet lag but watched the victory speech. Great that Alabama turned after 25 years. Now whiney Moore wants a recount.

Moore is refusing to admit defeat and demanding a re-count. Gracious in defeat he is not.
