This wouldn't be so bad if the attitude was "it's fine so long as no-one is put in actual danger" but it's sailed past that to "it's fine so long as nobody is hurt" to "fuckem, so long as nobody has to pay".

Has anyone said how the fire started? Cladding made from fireworks and napalm is all very well but presumably it didn't start by spontaneous combustion.

Oh yeah. The bloke was drying fish on the back of his fridge. Allegedly... When I was a student I got a really bad burn on my arm from the back of a fridge because I was so utterly pissed I fell asleep with it against the heat exchanger and didn't wake up or move for, like, 9 hours. |

When I was a student I got a row from the head housekeeper in the halls for putting out a chip pan fire with a powder extinguisher instead of the fire blanket.

Even that seems a bit posh. I'm not sure anyone was in charge at our "hall". You got assigned a flat at the beginning of the year then never interacted with anyone ever again except other drunk students.
