I think that happened here a few years ago with dibble citing lack of a risk assessment for not wading in. I think it even have just been a ditch or shallow water too. I was told that Met officers are expressly forbidden to go into the lower Thames. It's just too cold and too dangerous. At some point you have to balance the risk and thelives ... |

Yeah, a three foot deep lake is pretty hard to explain. A freezing cold major tidal river at night is a very different proposition. I wouldn't do it and I wouldn't ask anyone else to do it. The Met's instruction not to do it makes sense.
