It’s a weird focus. Meat-eaters suffer with eating disorders everyday but nobody ties it to them eating meat.

While I've long thought vegans tend to be a be a bit obsessive and veganism is a form of eating disorder, this woman had a whole other level of mental illness that killed her. Her veganism while not the cause of her death, was certainly a contributing factor in her mental health profile imo.

There is some truth in that. Having lived among groups of all kinds of diet faddists, I've seen that some are not suited to veganism. But it's usually bad veganism, where measures are not being taken to ensure a good intake of vits, notably B vits, the lack of which can disrupt nerve function.

I think when you get obsessive about the specifics of food you're likely to have a food disorder that fucks you up. You end up eliminating things from your diet. So I can see how eating disorders can lead you to being a vegan - and then beyond, like this raw food fruitarian. But you could also end up like Jordan Peterson claiming to eat nothing but steak and also f**k**g yourself up.

Veganism isn't any kind of disorder, and billions of people are vegan. But eating disorders could get you to being vegan, obviously.

Why are people so crazy about the concept of those who don’t view animals or animal products as food?

Hinduism dates back millennia and being fully vegetarian / vegan is completely normal and natural within Hindu cultures.

The attitudes of those who eat animals towards those who don’t is truly bizarre.

Growing up I was a pescatarian and I have a brother who went and is still vegetarian and it was bonkers the number of meat eaters who would take deep personal offence at this!

Hindu vegetarian is as far removed from western ideas of veganism as it’s possible to get.

In the vast majority of vegans in the west it’s adherents tend to the extreme and as we know extreme thought can lead to bad outcomes mentally. Lump that on top of this woman being extreme even for a vegan it’s fair bet her anotexia and her extreme vegan diet can’t really be separated

true. but disrespect for the military and vets probably hasn't been this high since vietnam. brave lot when they are in a large mob but not brave enough to serve in the military where they might to have to really face any danger. i'm sure they are bragging about themselves on twitter and getting tons of likes.
