"tended to score higher on a measure of right-wing authoritarianism"
What were the scores on the much more common left-wing authoritarianism?

In "Bear shits in woods" news this week, you will be astonished to discover that companies who sell fuel for cars are selling fuel for cars: www.politico.com/news/2024/04/05/big-winner-in-bidens-ev-charging-revolution-gas-stations-1-00150894At least in the US, the major players in gas stations are also using the government subsidies for EV charging to put in EV chargers. I really have no idea what the author of this piece is trying to do? Are we meant to be scandalised by this? Were we meant to be scandalised when petrol vendors started selling diesel? It's baffling.

"In essence, the law’s $7.5 billion pot for charging is reinforcing the very fossil-fuel infrastructure that the EV era would seem to consign to oblivion." seems to be their woeful lament.
Not only is it sensible to have them at gas stations, why would you be against those stations getting a share of profits from an industry that will supposedly phase them out?

Exactly. And you actually want a lot of the parts of fossil fuel infrastructure. For those who aren't charging at home you want to be able to charge on your travels and petrol stations have a fair amount of real estate and are close to highways in the kinds of places people think they need some extra fuel.
Also, lots of petrol stations serve a dual purpose as convenience store and I don't know why you want to kill locally owned franchise convenience stores.
