Well it may not be 'normal' but the "is it cos I is black?" mantra is often used by people who haven't got the self awareness to realise that the problem lays elsewhere.
And, of course it isn't just a few Black people who are unaware - there are many, many people of every type who fall back on some excuse or other to hide themselves from the real truth.
