From the clip. "Even Don Lemon on cnn said that he wanted to be viewed as a black man. He doesn't want a color blind society." Imagine a white newsman saying they wanted to be viewed as a white man. They would be fired on the spot. But Lemon gets applause. "We are headed for a future that is nothing but racist. And the left doesn't care." Of course they don't care. They want a return of Jim Crow segregation so bad they can taste it. They reject MLK Jr. "Segregation is making a comeback -- on college campuses"www.washingtonexaminer.com/segregation-is-making-a-comeback-on-college-campusesAnd the left is encouraging and supporting it. Why do you have to be “colour blind” to treat people with dignity and respect? There is nothing wrong with him saying he wants to be viewed as a black man - he is one. Just no need for him to be treated differently because of it.

Did anyone catch Sir Bob Geldof on BBC R4 this morning? Unbe-f**k**g-lievable! He banged on and on about his deprived childhood and how they had no money etc. Completelt failed to mention that he went to Blackrock College, Ireland's Eton. I was astonished. Not least because nobody picked him up on it. Maybe that's less surprising from the almost 100% privately-educcated BBC. Did he get a scholarship or did his family pay? If the latter it’s surprising nobody picked him on it - unless they don’t know the truth.

Oh look, if he'd had a scholarship that would have been trumpeted from the outset. In fact, private schools are savvy to the blushes that can be saved through scholarships and offer loads. The problem is that most are for a few hundred quid.

It's not odd at all. It's the BBC. He's one of their own.

I'm sure that's true, but I think that the cards are stacked in favour of the comfortably-off and there something admirable about people who have pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. That's what makes the poseurs and the pretenders so contemptible.

I think it's more that nobody wants to admit that their success wasn't all their own doing. They don't want to admit to starting their life in a position of privilege. It's not for public consumption, but for the idea of their own self-worth. It's the same reason that white dudes seem to freak out at the concept of white and male privilege. They don't want to accept that someone else who achieved the same as them may have had a harder time to get there, because they think it diminishes themselves.

Yeah, it is a first cousin of stolen valour. Also, I think there is an element of "special insight" as they've been able transition between backgrounds (which, of course, they haven't.) Then there's the authenticity thing: working on the roads or in a slaughterhouse or in MacDonalds as a student or gap year tosser is a very different experience to working there because it's your livelihood. As for white privilege, it doesn't exist. It's a whiney, dishonest slogan. That's the only reason sensible people find it distasteful. Advantage, certainly, but advantage is somewhat more difficult to account for and affords far less scope for playing the victim.

That doesn’t mean that every single white person is like a member of the royal family. But for example, CV discrimination is an example. But of course there can be a number of ways different privileges intersect and people can be privileged in one way and disadvantaged in another.

I wonder how many from actual working poor backgrounds bang on about it all the time as well, I know I barely mention it in conversation here, after all they now only see me, the nurse clinician well paid middle class yada yada yada, not sure I'd even be believed tbh,
I know I enjoy white privelage to some extent, just having the address I do on my CV and my name is an advantage over some of my nursing colleagues who live on the reserve for instance. Never sure why some freak out about this either and go to extraordinary lengths to 'prove' (sic) that just cos they did ok and never experienced any negatives to being white in a white society, that therefore people who are non white in a white society didnt experience anything negative as a result. Always baffled me tbh, I suspect its dishonesty.

If people think they have white privilege, why don't they just unburden themselves by giving away 20% of their salary to less privileged people? Today.

To show that you really believe white privilege is a thing and not just virtue signalling bollocks.
