So full on disaster has been averted and we end up with Brexit lite, not bad all things considered.

The British economy depends on immigrants. There's no huge pool of natives just straining at the leash to pour into jobs if immigrants are kicked out. We used to hear about net immigration being reduced below 100,000. This was to be achieved by ending 'uncontrolled mass immigration'. The supposedly 'uncontrolled' immigration was through EU freedom of movement without visas. A majority of immigrants come from outside the EU. They are already 'controlled'. The reduction of immigration would have to come from 'controlling' EU immigrants after Brexit by imposing visas. If there are fewer EU 27 immigrants, the only way to keep up the numbers needed to keep the wheels of the UK economy turning is to have more immigrants from the Commonwealth and other countries.

The big decisions are made by the Council, consisting of the government ministers and prime ministers of the member states. The Commission has no power to pass laws. This is done by Parliament and Council and by the member states. Of course, the 'Sir Humphreys' have considerable influence in the EU as they have in the UK and every single member states. To call them 'unaccountable' is nonsense. They Commissioners were appointed by the Council with the assent of Parliament and will leave office in 2019. If there is any reason for it, they can be sacked before their time is up.

You realise this is the transition, right? Transitions are, well, transitory.

So, excellent progress then, yeah? Progress? What has the UK gained? Avoiding hard Brexit, and finally shutting the ludicrously f**k**g idiotic No Deal Is Better Than A Deal morons down.

I suppose avoiding disaster could be called a gain, although considering the paucity of skills of the UK negotiators I'd call it a magnificent achievement.

Already done on the previous page, Uncle. The UK government have basically agreed that the EU was right all along and that - for all the puff from Boris and Treeza - they were never going to get the 10 impossible things they asked for. All their "no deal is better than a bad deal" stuff and "we're going to have magic borders" stuff was just flannel aimed to appease the right-wing nutters in her party and who control the British media.

Agreement has been reached. The UK has accepted that nothing will change after Brexit during the transition period, lasting till December 31, 2020. Except, and it's quite important, the UK will have no voice in the decisions of the EU. The Governor of the Bank of England loses his seat at the European Central Bank. There will be no British judge on the European Court of Justice. No British Commissioner. No British Members of the EU Parliament. No British prime minister or government minister will have a seat in the Council. There will be no EU agencies in the UK and the UK will not participate in the EU agencies, unless special arrangements are made. No Brit will be eligible to take the exam for recruitment to the EU civil service.

Will the French farmers still be immune from prosecution if they hi-jack British exports of lamb?

Ha ha ha ha... there won't be any lamb exports after Brexit.
But more of the French mentality needed across the board to stop capitalist cunts destroying everyone's lifestyle. Look at the Brits - cowed and oppressed, their society falling apart, afraid to get out on the streets to demonstrate against injustice and bad government. Most Brits still see grovelling as the way forward.

As a result of Brexit, the UK will lose 750 trade deals with countries around the world which are available to EU countries. The UK loses membership of Euratom. It loses membership of 33 EU agencies which provide important services to EU countries, unless special arrangements are made. For example, the European Banking Authority and the European Medicines Agency. The UK not only loses its membership of these agencies but they are actually located at Canary Wharf in London and are being moved out to EU countries. The Banking Authority is scheduled to be relocated in Paris and the Medicines Agency in Amsterdam.

At least it wasn't a repeated soundbite, like "We won, we won"..."Project fear, project fear"...
Your Brexit heros have shat upon you all from a not-so-great height and all you do is carry on blaming. Can't you see that?
It's the return of Chamberlain - Brexit in our time.

"He is being held as part of an ongoing investigation over campaign financing, according to a court source."
Shoot yourself in the foot or what?
At least they investigate corrupt politics here, unlike the UK. He's Hungarian anyway.
