Disagree - a No Deal Brexit means we have no trade deals, we have nothing with the Europeans at all - it almost certainly means withdrawal from Euratom and the ECJ, and possibly the ECHR. The Brexit Party can't campaign for us to have less than that.

The Petition against shutting down Parliament has gone over a million signatures in one day. It's not too late to stop it. The shutdown doesn't begin till the 9th September, at the earliest. Any British resident or British citizen abroad can sign. Do not prorogue ParliamentParliament must not be prorogued or dissolved unless and until the Article 50 period has been sufficiently extended or the UK's intention to withdraw from the EU has been cancelled. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/269157

England Leave 53.4% 15,188,406 VOTES. And of course the millions of would-be remain Europeans and other exp-pats denied a vote. We'll ignore the young who couldn't be arsed to get out of bed. Correctly conducted, this farcical referendum would have given a huge Remain result, but the Brexit cattle prod of furriner fear did it's work to the detriment of all. Away from the rhetoric, I had moment a few weeks back when I saw the future headlines - "No Deal" and "We're Out". It's gonna happen. Mainly because of Corbyn, I have to add. Ironically we've played right into his hands.

Lovely to hear JRM purring his way through the Today interview with John Humphries. Like a big, relaxed tiger.
It's great to see these Eton-educated, Oxford graduates with their Rolls-Royce brains completely leaving the hoi-polloi standing, open-mouthed and bewildered. It's about time. Planning and proper prior preparation prevent piss-poor performance.
They've obviously not been sat around with their thumbs up their arses all summer.

I've just been reading the utterly hysterical comments in the Guardian. According to them, the fascist coup is almost complete. We're Germany in 1933. There are secret battalions of riot police in London ready to quell the People who will surely rise up any day now against the coup and the army is on standby to gun down hundreds of protestors on the streets of London. Just when you think they couldn't get any more hysterical and all over a 4 day prorogation.

Haha! It's brilliant. I hope it does have a lasting effect on the country. We need it.

Parliament is to be shut down for five weeks by order of the Queen in Council. Our medieval constitution is due for reform. Abolish all political functions of the monarchy and keep the Royal Family on as entertainment if you must. Abolish the Privy Council altogether.

The Tory Party is deeply split by the decision to shut down Parliament. Lord President of the Privy Council and Leader of the Commons, Rees-Mogg, challenges dissidents to support a vote of no confidence. Donors pour money into the Tory election war chest. A general election is in the offing. Chief Strategist, Dominic Cummings, probably reckons that the Tories would win, carried to victory by a wave of Brexiter rage.

I think Sir Dominic is right. The Tories have a better chance of winning an election at the moment than Brexit does of happening.

I'm not sure Cummings is wrong. An election immediately post No Deal Brexit would probably result in a Tory majority. And Boris really never plans very far ahead, so he's looking at that rather than the consequences of being made to own his disastrous No Deal over the subsequent five years.

I'm also not sure what the right strategy from the opposition is. If we use Italy as an example, the right wing idiots were trying to force an election - the right thing to do was to not give them what they wanted and the opposition negotiated to form a government that in theory will last a few months or years, in order to stop the right-wing scum from subverting the process. The right thing for the opposition in Britain to do is to create a stable government after a no confidence vote, even if it only lasts a few months. I just don't see it happening.

Andrew Neil is generally pretty good though. He's merely left wing rather than far, far, far, extreme left like most of the other BBC staff.

The opposition is most of the Labour Party, a fair number of the Tory Party, the LibDems, the ScotNats, various others and Sinn Fein (who haven't yet taken their seats).

They're a sh*t opposition though, aren't they? They're also in opposition to The People which is never a good look.

"You will not f**k with my children’s future. You will not destroy the freedoms my grandfather fought two world wars to defend. f**k off you over-promoted rubber bath toy. Britain is revolted by you and you little gang of masturbatory prefects."
Spot on. Hugh Grant to Johnson (and most other Rees Mogg cock-sucking Brexiters of course).
