Hahahhaha! Well done Bozza. Dropped the BBC flat on their arses again. They're been fudding themselves raw all day over the gossip of a election. Completely bloody wrong-footed.

Exactly the opposite of what the BBC said he would.
Basically, sticking to the plan. Piss off Corbyn. That sort of thing.
Very funny.

So, basically, nothing at all of note?

So, still waiting for parliament and Jeremy Corbyn to decide for him, unable and unwilling to take ownership of either an election or a No Deal...

Un-be-f**k**g-lievable! The BBC's hubris knows no bounds. They are sticking with their story despite having been directly contracted in real time: "The government is expected to table a motion to hold a general election on 14 October if it is defeated by MPs opposed to a no-deal Brexit on Tuesday. Boris Johnson said he did not want an election, but progress with the EU would be "impossible" if they won." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49549960

As Brendan O’Neill says…let the Orwellian language continue ...
‘This cognitive dissonance – to be briefly generous – was summed up in the placards being carried by numerous people. The text said: ‘Defend democracy… Stop Brexit.’ And there you have it: defend democracy by crushing a massive democratic vote; defend democracy by overriding the wishes of the demos; defend democracy by killing it. This is an Orwellian-level misuse of language, where ‘democracy’ is invoked by protesters to the cynical end of stopping democracy in this country. They don’t want to stop the coup, as they refer to Boris’s suspension of parliament; they want to intensify the liberal elite’s coup against the millions of ordinary people who voted to leave the European Union.’
The BBC never presents that narrative of events…preferring the Remain verison….‘‘Defend democracy… Stop Brexit.’ ‘ LOL.

Classic "To save the village, we had to destroy the village" (although nobody ever said that).

Suspending parliament, removing the whip from Tory rebels, and so on, definitely looks like the action of someone who's angling for an election. As UncleJr says, this is Orwellian, where "I don't want an election" literally means "I want an election". The cognitive dissonance is through the roof.

We have parliamentary democracy in Britain. Parliament makes the final decision. The opinion of 17.4 million voters out of an electorate of 46.5 million is not the opinion of the 'demos'. Anyway, MPs are not magicians. An agreement has two sides to it and we can only do what our EU partners are prepared to accept.
Obviously, the UK can leave without a deal. All that means is that the negotiations begin after Brexit. There's no way out of it, except by leaving the planet. WTO rules will take over. But the UK begins with no WTO agreements when it leaves the EU. The EU Commission negotiated WTO terms for the member states collectively.

Because people moving within a nation are not immigrants. People moving between nations are. The distinction in reality is arbitrary, defined by arbitrary lines drawn on maps usually a couple of centuries ago. Someone from Dundalk moving 20km to Newry is an "immigrant", someone moving from Dover 700km to Newry is not. It's clearly arbitrary and silly to change the definition based on lines in the sand. It’s not really arbitrary is it. The nation state has a meaning. It’s silly To pretend that it doesn’t because some people don’t believe in countries. (It also pretends that the notion of common languages, cultures etc don’t exist.) Anyway my point was Bert, as always is wrong. There is such a thing as a EU migrant.

Interesting comment from one of the rags: "Endgame: Boris calls election, Corbyn blocks election, Corbyn calls no-confidence vote, Boris loses no-confidence vote - checkmate."
Hmm...
