yeah, but you're never gonna know for sure that Burma and the Philippines and Indonesia and India would not have not turned Maoist anyway. The goal was to stop the dominoes falling. The dominoes didn't fall. Therefore the desired outcome happened. I'm just saying that it is perfectly reasonable to argue that Vietnam was a successful war for the US in terms of what it was intended to achieve. You can't refute the argument even if you also can't definitively prove it. They f**k*d up Vietnam something rotten, but the Kissinger doctrine really didn't care whether Vietnam got f**k*d up. |

Btw, and ever the pedant, "to cancel" means to decide or announce that (a planned event) will not take place, as in "he was forced to cancel his visit".
