What’s the value of 2% national growth if the top 5% double their wealth and the rest actually get poorer? That's not what OOTLG was wittering about. It seemed to be what he was wittering about. That having less “growth” than a system where the growth only goes to the super rich isn’t a problem if the entire social structure is in far better shape and supports the lives of the vast majority much better.

Seems fairly straightforward to me.

We have to stop fetishising GDP growth as inherently good. It is worthless to the majority if there is no trickle down. Frankly unless it’s torrenting, not trickling, GDP growth that only goes to Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos is worthless to society.

Up to 50 jobs on the outskirts of Wigan subject to approval.

What's the problem with that? Don't think Wigan should have jobs or that planning isn't necessary?

Ketchup and salad cream are both toxic waste products.

Have you Remain voting, EU sycophant troglodytes managed to dry out your piss-stained mattresses and bedding during this dry spell?

They would have done but sadly they chose to lay them out to dry in Germany. The U-EU.

Who's let CN out again?
Nah, the Remain camp are simply sitting back watching the new dawn over the sunlit uplands and the phenomenal success that is Brexit unfold before their eyes - trade deals galore, surplus of lorry drivers, full supermarket shelves; sovereignty everywhere...

Yep, I've decided to become a slash and burn pro-devastation Tory supporter, f**k it. Brexit - great. Highest Covid infection rate - great. Yep, I'm all for it. I knew you were right.

At the time of writing this (2:50 pm 14th April 2022) the BBC News website in Business / Market data shows that the GBP has reached a 5-year high against the EU Euro. It is currently 1.220 Euros. I wonder if this will be reported by the BBC ?! It certainly would be if it reached a 5 year low. Is this despite or in of spite of Brexit BBC ?? Asking for a friend

Highest Covid infection rate, eh? Best record-keeping, I reckon. Also, most sociable, internationalist country. You'll get the hang of this.

Like most Brexiters (who for some reason like to impose sanctions on themselves) UJ's generally deranged. Even odder is getting excited over fluctuations in currency exchange rates which can be manipulated by anyone with a few quid.
"For whilst it is a cliché that the ‘fish rots from the head’, Johnson’s departure would not in itself improve things. The rot has now gone too deeply into the body politic, because it doesn’t just come from Johnson’s opportunistic moral vacuum. It comes from Nigel Farage’s blokey racism, Jacob Rees-Mogg’s faux-patrician sanctimony, Gisela Stuart’s earnest spitefulness, Michael Gove’s oily sophistry. From the decades of screaming tabloid headlines about immigration, and the lachrymose self-pity of suburban curtain-twitchers who ‘aren’t allowed to say what we think’. From the belligerent nationalism of obese thugs and blue-blazered golf club bores who can’t forget the war they don’t actually remember. From contrarian would-be intellectuals who can’t forgive being ignored by real academics and from free-market think tankers who have none of the knowledge of real business people. From dead-eyed Hedge Fund managers gloating over profits to be made and cold-eyed neo-Marxists dreaming of utopias to come.
From the rot created by this diverse coalition – which diversity also means that those who confidently announce that ‘Brexit was always all about’ any one thing are always wrong - a foul miasma now emanates. Those who complain of the stench are denounced as deranged, or dismissed as obsessed. They are told they must ‘move on’ and ‘get behind Brexit’, and told it most loudly by those who equally loudly insist that Brexit has been betrayed. The rot will only have a chance of being stopped when enough people agree that Brexit has in fact failed, even if they continue to disagree about why. But, by then, there may not be much left untainted."
Well said that man.
