This is horrific, but at this point i doubt anyone is surprised given this regimes poor human rights record. news.yahoo.com/ice-nurse-revealed-georgia-detention-215816246.htmlOn Monday, a nurse at a private immigration detention center in Georgia came forward about a range of dangerous medical practices at a U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility. According to her, the center has not only ignored COVID-19 protocols, but is actively performing mass hysterectomies on detained people. The whistleblower, Dawn Wooten, worked at the Irwin County Detention Center (ICDC) — which is operated by LaSalle Corrections — where she allegedly witnessed the company’s refusal to test detainees for COVID-19 as well as spoke to several people who each had their uterus removed as part of an unwarranted hysterectomy procedure. According to the official complaint lodged with the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Homeland Security, Wooten said that the facility was performing hysterectomies on people who reported having heavy menstrual cycles or other more serious pain, but that “everybody’s uterus cannot be that bad.”

Whoooooooaaaah, there!
"but is actively performing mass hysterectomies on detained people."
"Mass hysterectomies" strikes me as a touch hysterical. I assume they're not "forced", which is what they hope you will infer.

Without their consent is forced, performing medical procedures that you haven't explained is forced, forced doesn't mean just holding a person down.
Though you two have never really grasped the concept of consent before, so you are unlikely to now.

Are you confusing allegedly "unwarranted" with "without consent" perhaps?

Yes of course they will say “they consented” (much like when a man badgers a woman over the course of hours into “consenting”). People think if you aren’t holding people down and convince them into a “yes” then it’s all consensual and nothing to worry about. This ignores whether or not these were required treatments or whether the women fully made aware of all options open to them, whether they were clearly offered all options etc. Uninformed consent is not consent. Hysterectomies are major surgery and really should be right at the end of the options list. The fact somebody felt the need to whistleblow shows that the whole approach was far from kosher. I mean it’s captured here: “ unwarranted hysterectomy procedure.” It’s not like these detainees have the freedom to go and seek a second opinion. As I said - developing country.

I can barely contain my excitement. "The topics covered by the six nominees are wide-ranging, including stories about climate change, the hardship of life in Zimbabwe, dementia, and the women soldiers of 1935 Ethiopia." The books about the female soldiers and Zimbabwe actually sound interesting. But god forbid anybody show interest in anything not Western / White / Male.

Hysterectomies without hormone replacement therapy can seriously damage the health of the woman and shorten their life

Hysterectomies without hormone replacement therapy can seriously damage the health of the woman and shorten their life I had to see my gynaecologist about fibroids and she was very very very very clear that hysterectomies are definitely last case scenario, preferably after other options have been explored and can have a host of side effects given the major surgery. My aunt had to have a hysterectomy and she only opted for it after other treatments failed and it was months of recovery. Although I understand where they can, they leave the ovaries to manage the risk of early menopause and avoid having to deal with other side effects (which are vast - I did not even know until recently it can even negatively impact a woman’s ability to orgasm?)

To use your phrase, unwarranted doesn't mean what you think it does.
