My first thought was as Israel, but rain and fog and mountains is not a great mix for choppers

Sudden changes in the status quo can have unexpected and far-reaching consequences.

Iran's President and Foreign Minister, both killed. I know they're not the top dogs, but every iteration of personnel is likely to bring incremental change.

It may well turn out that way, yes - but the ICC also issued an arrest warrant for Putin last year, so it's good to see an element of consistency here.
Also yes - whilst Putin can stand with countries equally dismissive of human rights such as China, North Korea, Iran & Syria, and whilst the Israelis can rely on their lobby worldwide to scream "anti-Semite" at any hint of criticism of Israel, perhaps the wider world now realises that the behaviour of Hamas, of Israel and of Russia really aren't that different.

I wonder if Khan's International Khriminal Khourt will boost Netanyahu's popularity?

Great man, Biden. I've always said so. "Joe Biden has condemned the “outrageous” call for Benjamin Netanyahu’s arrest made by the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. The US president said that Karim Khan’s call for Mr Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defence minister, to be arrested for war crimes had drawn “equivalence” between Israel and Hamas and Mr Biden reiterated his pledge to support the country’s security." www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/05/20/international-criminal-court-arrest-warrant-netanyahu/

Good for them. It would have been better to have done it 15 years ago when there was a more coherent Palestinian state that held a much better chance of avoiding schism and collapse. But it’s still time that we accepted there’s not a single unitary Israeli state controlling the West Bank and Gaza so this is still a good move.
