Also Tim Spall's Ozempic face looked a bit out of place.

Unsolved Mysteries- Jack the Ripper. Is it just me or is the whole Jack the Ripper thing utterly tedious?

I think it has been done to death, for a generation I guess.

Update on my post a couple weeks back: I've just finished binge-watching season 2 of Succession and, no two ways about it, it's now got me hooked. Ordered 3 and 4 off e-bay yesterday, so that's another reason for Mrs. Mogg to look after the three granddaughters this weekend.

I am utterly baffled that anyone has cared about Jack the Ripper for over a century.

Jack the Ripper does hold an odd fascination for film and TV makers it seems.

Just watching the end bit of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. What a load of shite. It was a load of shite when it first came out and it still is.

I think I've watched it three times now - once in the early 80s, once about 20 years ago, and once about 5 years ago, each time expecting to find out why people love it, and each time being mightily disappointed.

In fact, the list of good Spielberg movies is quite short
Jaws Raiders (and even that's pretty cheesy) Empire of the Sun Jurassic Park Catch me if you Can Bridge of Spies
The list of overrated ones is a lot longer

I also liked Poltergeist, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan. I seem to remember Duel being not bad in a cheapo sort of way.

Always wasn't a bad movie. A bit cheesy in parts, kinda like Ghost but with some pretty cool aircraft. It was also Audrey Hepburn's last movie.

Interview with the Vampire. Excellent show and the casting of Lestat was brilliant (even if his French is awful.)

SupaCell. I usually boycott shows with a majority black cast that feature gang activity (The Wire being a stand out exception) but this is pretty decent and weaves in the gang element in an interesting way.
The largely unknown actors are generally fairly decent and interesting premise. Also very bingeable!

Watched Dune part two, while not great, these two films have probably been the best adaptations of the book I've seen. I also read they are actually continuing with the saga and doing a film of book 2.

How does the second book compare to the first?

I think I eventually read the first four books. Diminishing returns, I think you'd say, as the series went on.

That's what I've heard. The first one was pretty damn good, of course some people go absolutely mental over it.
