An occasional thread for recommendations of a televisual nature.
For me, the stand-out find of the festive season has been an Isreali cop comedy series called Hashoter Hatov (The Good Cop.)
A genuine chucklefest.

The Christ-killers have done well: Mrs. Baloo and I have also been enjoying a tender, gentle tale of life in a religious Haredi family in Jeruselem. It's called Shtisel.
Nicely done and surprisingly compelling.

One thing I have learned: Yiddish is basically German and Hebrew requires similar phlegm reserves as Welsh.

Watched a little TV ...
Watership Down revisited - a different take, but didn't add much to the original film. The ABC Murders - surprisingly disappointing, with John Malkovic's Belgian accent marginally worse than Dick van Dyke's cockney one. Not Going Out (live) - loved it. Murder on the Orient Express - always a safe bet. But of course nothing ever beats Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. EVAH!

The audience looked unimpressed.

Two days me, but I expect a bit of a relapse after the visitors go this Friday. A couple of glasses if only to talk about them all.

Actually, I'm feeling a whole hell of a lot better for not drinking BUT I've just had the results back from a blood test which I did before Christmas. All normal and clear. No sign of anything sinister, so .....

Nah. I had a test a few months back when I joined a new surgery and they just wanted to do a comparison. I'm that age now I suppose when they start keeping a look out for stuff. I had a minor stroke a few years back (which they never really got to the bottom of but is something to do with a minor brain injury) so sometimes I get odd sensations in my left side. You go in, they say "there's nothing wrong with you fatty, now f**k off." That suits me.

Oooh talking of straying, how's this for odd? I check my facebook account about once a year and (tbh I was entering an online competition) there were two messages this morning from the girl who broke my heart back in my early twenties. She really did f**k me up, I admit it, but there you have it. Nearly thirty years.

Back in 1998 in London I collapsed in the street and broke Mrs Ootlg's leg. Rushed off to Whittington, they cleared me but kept her in. But later they said I 'may have had' a minor stroke (I wasn't pissed or anything) and put it down eventually to 'calcification' or summat. I still get a numb left arm occasionally.

Actually, she's still quite easy on the eye. And a runner too, so quite fit.
Still, out of the question. I'm a happily married man whose never so much as thought about being unfaithful and - pleasantries aside - she did cynically f**k me over. Once bitten etc.
