Watched Vice, the film about Dick Cheney, at the cinema a couple of days ago. The first half is actually very entertaining - and reminded me a lot of McKay's The Big Short. The second half was too slow, too obvious, too nice about George W, and pretty turgid all round. It was almost Michael-Moore-esque.

Making a Murderer (on Netflix.)
Gripping and very revealing about the US justice system. Shocking.

Just watched Disobedience, not that great tbh, even with a full on lesbian sex scene

Just finished season 5 of Luther. Loved it - although I am glad they killed off Alice as I think the side story has run its course.
But Luther is just an amazing show! When I have downtime and want to relax I have been checking out the new Will and Grace which is actually pretty good.

Two other good Netflix series are Unabomber and Mindhunter. Both slightly similar in some ways. Based on true stories, set in the 70s/80s, maverickish main characters. And crime, both about crime.

The wifer never watched Breaking Bad, so I'm watching it for the 2nd time. Still brilliant all around.
Watched Ozark, which was not bad but not all that compelling either.

Ozark's fun. I liked the first season better than the second, where they seemed to have the usual TV thing of having to go up or out, they always push their premise to more criminal extremes. The cast is great in that show, as is the cinematography. It makes it very watchable even when the plot gets excessively silly.

My favorite character in that is Ruth.

Ruth From Ozark should have her own spin-off show. The actress was also great in (a much smaller role in) The Americans.
I've started watching Homecoming on Amazon. I'm three episodes in, fascinated, and still don't really know what I'm watching. Julia Roberts is in it, and I think it's the first time I've seen her acting her age, and looking a bit worn and haggard.

Can anyone recommend Just Call Saul, the spin-off from Breaking Bad?

No. I thought it was poor.

Can anyone recommend Just Call Saul, the spin-off from Breaking Bad? Fantastic - I love it. Cannot wait for the next season. The only weird thing is watching them play their younger selves (well timed before the events of Breaking Bad) yet they all look much older. Especially Mike.

Better Call Saul is great. It's slow - possibly even slower than Breaking Bad. But very good. I think my favourite strand of it is the Mike Ehrmentraut stuff, but it's all well worth watching. It's also entertaining to see David St Hubbins in it.

Perhaps we'll give it another go. I felt that it lacked the humour of the Saul in Breaking Bad.

I found it got boring so only made it though a couple of seasons, as Fandy said its slow, for me too slow.

My housemate found it slow too and stopped watching but I never found that at all. I liked the pacing.

Haven't tried Better Call Saul, the premise didn't appeal to me.
He was comical in BB but seemed like such a caricature it was hard to buy, especially compared to some of the other roles (Mike Ehrmentraut was one of my favorites).

I'd say that Better Call Saul is 60% Saul, 40% Mike.

Just started binge watching The Man in the High Castle, and I have to say it's very good so far. Philip K Dick must have the most film and TV stuff based on his work than any modern author.
