I'm a couple of episodes from the end of Season 1; I've been watching it infrequently over the last month or so. I have to say that I'm not fully engaged - it's like there are too many strands and characters and they're all so conflicted that it's hard to really engage with any of them. It's beautifully constructed and looks great, but it's leaving me a little cold.
I really enjoyed watching Homecoming on Amazon the last couple of weeks. It's interesting to see Julia Roberts playing someone who's plain and a bit haggard. And playing it very simple and straight. It's also nice to have a conspiracy-type TV show that's self contained in 10 episodes and actually has an ending.

Amazon Prime have got the old Tom and Jerry cartoons now. They still stand the test of time, except the later 1960s ones which were always a bit rubbish.

Excellent. I imagine they've had any vibrancy redacted.

I haven't got as far as the mammie ones yet but Amazon had the major in Fawlty Towers' full "****" vs "*******" rant.

Oooh talking of straying, how's this for odd? I check my facebook account about once a year and (tbh I was entering an online competition) there were two messages this morning from the girl who broke my heart back in my early twenties. She really did f**k me up, I admit it, but there you have it. Nearly thirty years. They don't look the same anymore. Unfriended. See you at 81.

We quite enjoyed that although it was pretty tacky really. Sopranos meets the Dukes of Hazard.

It was a sort of Jesus on the Cross headlong into a lorry, wasn't it?

It’s not a show it’s a film but I just finished watching Crazy Rich Asians and absolutely loved it!

SoA was a classic example of a show with a good premise that starts off well then escalates and escalates to try and have more and more drama and just becomes a stupid joke. And Charlie Hunnam is the most pathetic tough guy ever.

Oscar nominations came out earlier in the week so I forced myself to watch Roma on Netflix. By the end you can see that it has some merit, but for the first 80 minutes or so pretty much nothing happens, in black and white, with subtitles.

And Charlie Hunnam is the most pathetic tough guy ever. But Hunnam’s hot and that’s really all that matters. As for shows escalating and starting to spoil a good thing, I am placing Luther and Peaky Blinders in that category.

He’s not as ridiculous inSoA as he is in Guy Ritchie’s bonkers, so bad it’s fun to watch, King Arthur film.

I find that series without a specific story to follow end up being sh*t because they eventually end up up ditching "a new monster every week" for some wank story "arc". The X Files ended up doing just that and became crap.
