While the illegality is the same, smoking cannot sensibly be compared to drinking. Smoking in a enclosed space directly impacts everybody else in the space.
Drinking, not so much (unless drink and being belligerent.) She definitely should not have been doing it but it is also definitely a bigger story merely because it’s Diane Abbott.

"The therapist and writer Philippa Perry said: “Oh mate. We’ve all done it. Anyway thanks for travelling on the tube like most people have to do.” Or obey the rules, like the rest of us,eh? "While the Labour MP David Lammy said: “Jah Rastafaria! Why was the rum not Jamaican?” Rastafarians don't drink. Don’t they drink? Anyway I think he was using a “Jesus Christ!” Stand in.

Also, some people are weirdly and creepily obsessed with Abbott, praising and worshipping her at every opportunity.

“The much maligned shadow home secretary has become a folk hero for her surreptitious boozy moment on the train”
Huh?
I would reckon the minority are the people at the opposite ends of “she should be punished!” / “she’s a folk hero!”ends of the spectrum.
For the majority of sensible people it’s a “why should I care? Why is this news?”

No, she didn't. The Guardian is just so very juvenile, isn't it?

Sounds like an entitled, spoilt, racist brat. And her son's a dickhead too.
"while claiming he had a gun in his dressing gown." Perhaps he was just pleased to see her.

Diane Abbot?
I thought she was in Scotland, reporting back to Jeremy, looking for Loch Down.

Brent Borough Council has enlisted schoolchildren to choose a suitable new name for the park, with pupils as young as five supposedly suggesting that the green space be named after Ms Abbot, the Hackney North and Stoke Newington MP. Pupils were first briefed on "systematic racism" and the "tragic killing of George Floyd" by a race expert. Yes, very strange...

Ah yes, indoctrinating children and then employing them to push the message. They really are slimy, sleazy, degenerate shitbags.

Is it a very big park, full of dogshit? 35 hectares in Euros and 86 acres in old money makes it (consults thumbs) about 144 tithes. The dogshit you can work out with a pencil.
