I think the last time I watched it "ironically" was when Wogan was still doing it. But, and I think it's worth repeating, despite not having seen it in 2 decades I am pretty sure there's been no decline in quality. It literally can't have gone downhill. It was all, always, 95% sh*t. The "quality", the cream that rose to the surface, was Abba, Bucks Fizz and Brotherhood of Man. Remember how absolutely dogshit everything else must have been. True, but at least back then, the objective seems to have been to crank out a reasonable good pop song. Almost three quarters of last night's offerings just seemed to be minority interest nonsense: I mean, just look at the winners. When the hell listens to Kerrang Lite gaylordery like that these days?

There seems to be some concern that the winners didn't take cocaine.

"Israel says it will pull out of the Eurovision Song Contest if organisers try to censor its entry. It comes after the lyrics to Eden Golan's October Rain were leaked to the media earlier this week. According to the Israel Hayom newspaper, the song references the victims of the 7 October Hamas attacks, with lyrics including: "They were all good children, each one of them." www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68379762.ampGood. Fuckity off. You're not in Europe anyway. Israel has already withdrawn from civilisation, so this seems like small beer. A cynic might see this as a diplomatic ruse as any Israeli entry is likely to get panned and booed.

The US can stand in for them with a cover of "Puppet on a String".

Oooh! The Dutch have been disqualified for getting stroppy with Swedibble.
I might just tune in for Israel's entry, just to hear the crowd's reaction.

I will not be tuning in because I am not a gay man in the mid 80s. It's baffling that it's become such a fixture among certain types of people given that everyone thinks the music is always sh*t.

I did listen to the Swiss song just now because I see it reported that it won. Not bad, by the standards of these things.
