Seagulls are definitely bastards.

I rather admire them, but I'm a fan of crows. We're quite alike.

So, what's it about? I can't see the point. Is it some comment on the human condition? You regularly think this deeply about cartoons in newspapers? It’s just a light-hearted cartoon about seagulls and how annoying they are. Seriously - are you ok?

Seagulls are definitely bastards. Australian seagulls are the biggest bastards of all.

I increasingly think the only good cartoons in newspapers are David Squires’s football ones in the Guardian. They are absolutely packed full of in Easter eggs and stuff. I probably miss 70% of the jokes but they’re still much, much more funny than anything else.

Private Eye often had some good ones, but I've read it for years so don't know it its still the case.

I did see quite funny footy cartoon a while back, Harry Kayne in a Dr's office with the punchline "sorry Mr Kayne, you'll have to stay at Spurs, looks like you have severe silver allergy"

It's better, but at best it's a fairly weak whimsy. Hardly worth the brushwork, really. Obvious and unfunny.. But enough about Van.

For some reason, my Google feed seems to be almost exclusively from The Guardian and it is almost exclusively thick, spiteful and childish.
Honestly, what kind of a wanker would subscribe to that toss? It's amazingly awful.

On a similar note, I happened to catch The Moth Hour last night. It seems to have been hijacked by sinister ultra-hippies. The editing is so laughably clumsy in support of odd conclusions that it seems like a parody.
Last night's one was about the treatment of POWs who were taken to US soil during WW2. Some of the statements were wildly inaccurate and often contradictory. It was like they wanted to end up with three or four "mind-blowing" revelations and set out to smash the research to support those.
And it is delivered with a really nauseating youngster-speak like a trendy vicar working too hard.

He’s right, isn’t he? The one FB friend of mine who posted about being in the Queue E2 made it as much about being part of the experience, being able to say “I was there” as it was about paying respects or, even weirder, actual mourning. Not all the few hundred thousand who’ve waited are actually mourning. I would guess it’s a minority even of that pretty small minority of the population who’ve chosen to line up.

TBH, I couldn't get past the headline. Also, so what? Why do we need to be careful? I was in no danger of being fooled.
The Guardian.

You'd have to be sick in the head to mourn someone you didn't know. You may feel sad at that person's departure, but mourn?

I agree about the Guardian. It's hopelessly bourgeois.
