How's your kung-flu Mids?
I've had a really heavy cold for a couple of days. Mrs. B had a cold earlier in the week but, as usual, got over it in five minutes.
She's just gone down to the apothecary in the village to get a lateral flow test for me, just to be on the safe side. I'm going to look at a house for my parents later, so it's the responsible thing to do.
The rest of the weekend will largely be spent feeling sorry for myself.

Definitely on the mend. It was only really quite "bad" for a couple of days. Having the official diagnosis gives me license to do fuckall for a couple of days, which is nice.

A change of mind will not occur on either side, so "Time will tell" on this one. I'll stay with the skeptics the difference being, if actual evidence done by credible scientists published and peer reviewed in a credible way that cast doubt or proves there is a problem, then those who know about this stuff will change their mind and look for a better solution. Unlike those who start with the answer they want then produce some junk paper, such as you cited, published in a junk journal, such as Vaccine, then say look its just as I always said it was. We already know the anti-science lot like yourself will never change your mind based on evidence as every bit of credible evidence already proves you wrong, but still you continue saying risible stuff like you have here over the past few days. So really the fix on your statement should be "I'll never change my mind, so 'Time will tell' on this one, I'll stay with the anti-science lot"

I've had four China-virus jabs, and when the first on was pushed, it was a one of. Now it's touted as a yearly update. My having Covid jabs has no affect on others' health See, this is why teaching critical thinking is so important at a young age, that you missed out shows in almost every post you've made on this.

Everyone said this and was told it was nonsense by experts who said it was caused by eating pangolins.

It was odd how aggressive the pushback against the lab leak theory was in the West. Chinese influence?

I'm happy with either or both explanations as the Chinese can be utter arses.

Wrong again, Voice of Canada . . I learned critical thinking from the Voice of America - Rush Limbaugh, years ago

If it does turn out to be lab leak, I’ll hold my hands up. I thought it was unlikely and said so. It seemed much more likely to happen in a crappy unregulated animal market.
But also the fact that it was a bunch of known racists and known conspiracy loons who were pushing the idea that it was a sneaky foreign attack on pure white America made the lab leak theory seem unlikely. That’s the trouble with the boy who cries wolf about everything foreign. Adults ignore you, even if you turn out to be right for once.
Of course, they aren’t actually right. They suggested it was a deliberate act, not a cock-up. And that it was a specially designed bioweapon, which it obviously wasn’t. But still, even if parts of what they said were right, they got ignored because of their previous form.

So you're allowing right-wing conspiracy theorist loons to influence your thinking?

Here's some more Right-Wing error www.wsj.com/articles/covid-origin-china-lab-leak-807b7b0aWASHINGTON—The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of CongressThose Right-Wing wingnuts

I still don't thunk we can or will ever know for sure, reading the actual report what stands out is they say it's a “low confidence” conclusion rather than a definitive one. Possibly and probably are doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Though if there is ever definitive proof then I'll be the first to accept it. Though as I say, I think it's impossible, so really the best you can say at this point is it may have come from a lab or a wet market, but it's impossible at this stage to say with any confidence which one.
I do have to wonder at the Department or Energy putting this out, I mean it's not really their area, virology, public health, disease transmutation ext. If the Health department or the CDC agrees it would have a lit more credibility imo

Even so, even if it's only the Department of Energy, it's interesting that a non-Trump government agency thinks even with low confidence that it was more likely a lab leak than a wet market.
That means it's not as vanishingly improbable as I'd previously assumed.

It's America though. It's fcuking gigantic and the various departments have vast budgets and do all sorts of stuff. The DoE apparently has plenty of labs that do all sorts of bio stuff. Also the FBI has also come down on the side of a lab leak, with "medium confidence". I don't suppose we'll ever find out for sure unless Johnny Pangolin Pituitary comes clean. What's interesting is the way the scientific and other establishments, for the most part, tried to suppress the lab leak theory. and it's not a case of changing minds in the light of new evidence. Most of the evidence has been around for a few years. I think it was a mixture of Trump Derangement Syndrome, some people being a bit to close to the Chinese and fear of confrontation and all that that would entail.
