Defund the police !!

After reading some of the defund the police ideas it seems like we would need to legalise drugs, turn more of a blind eye to speeding and traffic offenses. The police I know say most of their work is enforcing family court orders and violence orders, so I don't know who will be doing that, probably a long haired well meaning hand wringer...

It really doesn't mean that. It means taking a ton of cash from police forces who have way too much cash and who only think in militarised terms. It's US specific, because no other democracy has thousands of different police forces, all with tanks and battlefield guns. The point about defunding the police is taking away their tanks. They just don't need them. There should possibly be some policing body that does have extreme hardware for use in special incidents, but towns of 50,000 people 2 miles from each other don't both need to have police that are armed to the teeth.

Does a police force need this?



Given that, as you say, most of what the police do is enforcing family court orders, they should be equipped to deal with that, not to deal with sustained street warfare against an armed militia. Given that police in Australia and Britain can generally do that job without a semi-automatic weapon, US police should be able to do that, too.

And a lot of what US police deal with could and should be dealt with by other professionals who have better training and whose first response isn't to point a gun.

I personally would be ok if the police get sacked, I have a sheriff who is elected, no mayor can remove him, I am fairly well armed,,,,,,,, the city people can manage however they wish, just stay off my grass

While I generally agree with the demilitarization of the US police forces they do need armoured vechiles and SWAT for when mental/terrorist gunman go beserk. They shouldn't use SWAT to serve warrants though.

At least you’ve taken the step to educate yourself on what some people mean when they say this. The amount of people I have heard object to #defundthepolice but have done zero research on what people mean when they say it!

I have seen that there seems to not actually be a consistent definition with people actually have different ideas of what it would look like for their region which makes sense as it is not one sole movement.

I think it is crazy talk, Makes me glad I live in county, where we have sheriff instead of mayor-appointed Chief of Police, it does make me fear that the city boys will want to move out to county and want to make it just like city, maybe we should put a wall around the cities to keep them in

The exact opposite. Code for state or federal officers who are used when and where needed, because I can assure you that the cities of Solana Beach and Del Mar don't both need fully armed riot police.

Defund the police huh?

Ok lets make a start, it will have to be a phased process so we can start where Andy lives, defund the Police there , the reduction in officers will obviously make his life better as he wont have racist murderers on his street inflaming tensions, and the money can go to the districts where people want the police protecting them.

I mean after all only a stinking hypocrite who is parroting mindlessly the dogma of the radical left would call for the police to be defunded and then expect their district to have the same police protection!

So yeah lets defund the police in the districts of all the brainless C*nts who are calling for it, then after a year we can see how wonderful their lives have turned out!

Absolutely. I'm all for taking away half of San Diego police's helicopters and guns and tanks, and spending that money on training people to deal with the usual dreary mental health issues and domestic squabbles that are generally what the police deal with.

Someone else who has decided to not at least try to educate themselves on what people mean.
