Odd, because he's not gay, trans, Jewish, black, Muslim or disabled. Oh, that's not for them. That's for the little people.

I see Blair is still cheerleading for the war he started even though the collapse of the Afghan army in a couple of days is evidence that it had completely and utterly failed on the most basic parts of nation building. This is proof that the last 20 years was a complete and utter failure. What does Blair want? The genuinely endless occupation propping up an obviously failed and utterly corrupt regime, piling trillions more in to achieve nothing sustainable?
Moron.
I find it interesting that all the news articles (and Blair) are going in two-footed on the withdrawal without mentioning that it’s evidence of the disastrous failure of their nation building. I wonder if lots of those many trillions of dollars invested might have gone to private military contractors who have lots of pliant journalists and politicians willing to help with their spin of avoiding all mention of how they received trillions of dollars for no apparent results at all.

Blair's spot on here. Biden is an utter, utter imbecile. Echoed by the highly regarded Donald Trump. mol.im/a/9914901

It was quite shocking to see the proportion of US casualties that were contractors.

Nation building needs successful containment, the prevention of importation of arms and Afghanistan's surrounded by willing suppliers, Iran, (Russia), China and Pakistan. It was never going to work and I'm sure everyone knew that, so at the end of the day it was a money-making exercise. Which is f**k**g shameful.

If we were going to war to prevent the mistreatment of women we'd not be allied with Pakistan, Saudi, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.

Just as an aside, the Afghan womens football team was not in Tokyo. There was, in fact, just one single Afghan woman in the Tokyo Olympics (a 100m sprinter who ran 13.29 seconds).

Met a bloke one who was based at Bagram in about 05/06 I think and one example he gave of the rampant grift associated with the war effort was there was a building with rows of washers and dryers but non of the service people could do their own washing, it all had to be handed over to a contractor, Haliburton or one of the other Bush pall companies, who then charged the military something like $100 a load. He said that kind of funneling money to contractors was rampant when he was there. You can see how the US alone spent close to $3tillion in 20 years just on Afghanistan. And you just know it was same grifters running things in Iraq
