I really want to make a cricket-jihadi style joke here but I know next to nothing about cricket. You don’t know much about humour either but that’s never stopped you before.

I know enough to know that you're a po-faced misery-guts and never laugh unless it's at a white man getting killed.

anyway the important thing to take on board here is that The Afghanistan T20 team are doing well in the Cricket T20 World Cup. Lying second behind Pakistan in Group 2 The Afghans have a decent cricket team now. Although given the way that group looks you’d be surprised if they finished anywhere other than 4th. Pakistan, India and NZ are all very, very good teams. Scotland and Namibia are not (although Namibia looked better than expected yesterday). I’m sure there are gags like “pitch if full of land mines” and “almost took his head off with that bouncer”, but they’re circumstance specific rather than generic for all cricket. Perhaps “after losing a limb in an explosion, he’s now short leg”?

Their captain was looking for their best bowler who's recently come out as gay but all he could find was The Ashes.

More than 20 people have been killed and at least 16 injured in a gun and bomb assault on a military hospital in the Afghan capital Kabul.
Attackers targeted the 400-bed Sardar Daud Khan hospital starting with two massive explosions outside the building, officials said.
Gunmen then broke into the hospital grounds, witnesses said.
No-one has yet claimed responsibility, but the Taliban have blamed the Islamic State affiliate IS-K for the attack.
Photographs and video footage from Kabul showed a plume of smoke over the area and recorded the sounds of gunfire. A doctor in the building told the AFP news agency he had been sent to seek shelter in a safe room during the attack and could hear guns being fired.
Sayed Ahad told broadcaster EVN that one of the blasts was a suicide attack.
"As an Afghan citizen, I am really tired of this war, suicide and explosions," he said. "How long do we have to endure this misery?"
Well something's going to happen...may take sometime but ...
There's three components: The Taliban; ISIS and a very large number of the population who want a "curse on both their houses". I think - (although I haven't really got a clue) that the Taliban will win against ISIS but then become "Taliban Lite" - driven by the populous.

State shocker: Did Biden abandon 14,000 Americans in Afghanistan?"Now we know why the State Department keeps playing coy with the number of legal permanent American residents (LPRs) Joe Biden left to the Taliban. While the White House and Foggy Bottom talked about a couple of hundred American citizens, they knew that the total number of Americans ranged as high as fourteen thousand, according to Foreign Policy and testimony in Congress: hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2021/11/05/state-shocker-did-biden-abandon-14000-americans-in-afghanistan-n427227

Hahahahaha! Look at the right wing loons who, after all these years, suddenly think that legal residents of the US are “Americans”.

Afghanistan's ex-finance minister has blamed the government's fall on corrupt officials who invented "ghost soldiers" and took payments from the Taliban.
Khalid Payenda told the BBC that most of the 300,000 troops and police on the government's books did not exist
He said phantom personnel were added to official lists so that generals could pocket their wages.
The Taliban rapidly seized control of Afghanistan in August, as US forces withdrew after 20 years in the country.
Mr Payenda, who resigned and left the country as the Islamist group advanced, said records showing that security forces greatly outnumbered the Taliban were incorrect.
"The way the accountability was done, you would ask the chief in that province how many people you have and based on that you could calculate salaries and ration expenses and they would always be inflated," he told the BBC's Ed Butler.
The former minister said the numbers may have been inflated by more than six times, and included "desertions [and] martyrs who were never accounted for because some of the commanders would keep their bank cards" and withdraw their salaries, he alleged.

Big team.
"A charter was organised, which flew the group of 130 people into Stansted airport last night. They are due to spend the next 10 days in quarantine."
