Spot on. The problem seems to be that so many BBC types are left politicos and think The West Wing is both a documentary and somewhere they imagine they'd be at home. So, when they're not idly peddling Westminster Village gossip, they're fascinated by the tawdry trivialities of American reptiles with the Washington Beltway.

Never been a fan of Trump but there does seem to be some political motivation behind this. What's queer is the British left's obsession with him. I think they imagine that his presidency and Brexit are part of some linked global populist movement that they alone are bravely battling against.
