I see the SNP want to do away with jury trials for rape but the legal profession disagrees. "Lawyers across Scotland are expected to join a near "unanimous" boycott of a pilot scheme for juryless rape trials. Stuart Murray, vice president of the Scottish Solicitors Bar Association, said at least seven bodies had voted against the government proposals. Legal professionals have said the scheme, proposed to tackle low conviction rates, could undermine the judicial system. First Minister Humza Yousaf has defended the plan. He pointed to a "weight of evidence" that juries are affected by rape myths and misconceptions." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65531380

I like the idea of removing juries in rape cases given how prevalent misogyny and stupid preconceptions and prejudices exist all impacting rape victims that come forward…. ….but there have been so many examples of just as much of the same bigotry being shown by judges that not sure that’s the answer. At least with juries you will hope that there are some sensible voices among the 12 (or whatever the number is now.)

Margaret Ferrier: Covid train trip MP loses appeal over Commons ban : Them's the rules, Margaret ...What is it about some MPs that they feel they make laws for us all to adhere to, but then act as if these same rules don't apply to them? By-election time, methinks!

Crivens! A potential by-election shockah on the cards for the SNP "MPs have voted to suspend Margaret Ferrier from the Commons for 30 days for breaching Covid lockdown rules. The move will almost certainly lead to a by-election in her Rutherglen and Hamilton West constituency. Ferrier won the seat for the SNP with a majority of 5,230 in the 2019 election but has been sitting as an independent since losing the party whip. It would be an early electoral test for new SNP leader Humza Yousaf, with Labour hopeful of winning the seat." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65702252

Is it not racist to resign when there's a Global Majority in charge? It's apparently racist to criticise him.

Yeah, I wondered if the ferries issue had done him in. I suspect it was a booby trapped appointment.

It must weigh on your mind a bit, being on the hook for hundreds of millions of quid and rising, due to incompetence and corruption.
