My friend has become a real fan of pickleball. She's a real racketball player and has waaaay too much time on her hands.
She's getting a new puppy though, so we'll see if it lasts.
She's the only one I know that plays this.

Aaaah. A friend of mine was talking about this the other day. She's been playing it in Spain. The way she described it made it sound like tennis for retards.

Do you remember they tried to introduce Short Tennis back in the 80s? That was shite too.

From what I've seen, I doubt I'll be trying it any time soon. Most players round here are right coders mind, perhaps it appeals to the alzhimers crowd.

I've played a few times. It's fun. It is, basically, tennis for people who can't move any more. It's not, you know, an athletic pursuit. But for people of a certain age it's a way of remaining mildly mobile. For very young people like me it's just a fun game. But it is fun - more fun than tennis, at least.
The chagrin generally isn't from tennis people having their courts taken over, but basketball people. A lot of basketball courts are finding the pickleball crowd setting up nets and hogging the space, creating something of a standoff between the urban yoot and the people who are actually dangerous - 60 to 70 year olds with too much time on their hands.
