It’s utterly ridiculous. It’s not like the Guyanese west of the Essequibo feel Venezuelan and want to be part of Venezuela. It’s not like it hasn’t been the de facto border for a century and a half and for all of Guyana’s post independence history. It’s nice to have a story of Colonial f**k up or wrongdoing, always a nice story to tell an oppressed people. But as a land claim it’s tosh.
