The lasses certainly howl if you wander into their backcountry.

Lassie, what's that, Jonny's escaped the mine and just slipped in the back door?

Lassie is out galivanting around the backwoods. Meanwhile back at the ranch, grandma is beating off the Indians.

Been working my way through "Short Histories of" some interesting podcasts, half way through the French Revolution. Also British Scandles, a good one on Bob Crowhurst. Bloody autocorrect Spotify are giving me a few. Is it the one by Noiser?

That Banksy-esque on the side of the pub is very apt.

Napoleon a 6 part history of, very good, gives a more rounded view of his genius and failings, he really was a very good general and administrator, but a massive ego while being quite insecure with women. Well worth a listening to.

I would challenge Boney's claim to be a great administrator. Why waste resources sending a signal like this to his wife Joséphine, while he was campaigning: 'Please don't wash, will arrive in three days'?

He recodified laws across Europe many of which still form the basis today. Though like many who do great things early in life he ended up believing his own propaganda and invincibility. By over reaching he brought about his own downfall.
I never appreciated how the Napolitano wars were really the first true global conflict, parts taking place in the ME, Asia and the Americas as well as from Lisbon to Moscow.

I think you could argue that the Wars of the Spanish Succession, and certainly the 7 Years War, were pretty global in reach.

Yeah suppose, hadn't considered the 7 year war as it wasn't quite on the same scale, though it was global

I thought it was recommended here but clearly not.
I have been listening to the “You’re wrong about” podcast. Specifically the OJ Simpson Trial series.
It’s so good. Quite harrowing so far.
